They are only obliged to remove burnt out vehicles as they are considered a risk to public health.
You are wrong. The Police have statutory powers to perform statutory duties with regards to vehicles in a public place. Try Googling 'vehicle recovery scheme' & read up.
Did you know that ANY vehicle parked on the public highway can be deemed to be causing an obstruction?Captaincodpiece wrote: »And if it were the case why aren't the removing convertibles left with the roof down in the summer.
Because, contrary to many peoples beliefs, most bobbies aren't out & out psycho, rule book reading control freaks. The decision on whether a vehicle is safe or unsafe is not a purely logical one.
Where is your theoretical soft top parked?0 -

Please explain to us how the Police have removed the vehicle for an inappropriate reason & maybe then we could discuss why the OP should not be liable for any charges.
Until then, please read the thread, the whole thread & nothing but the thread.0 -

For the police to deal with an obstruction it needs to be unnecessary or wilful.0 -

Exactly. Amazingly you are correct. A vehicle needs to be unwillfully parked before a parked vehicle can be deemed to be an obstruction.
I've never managed to work out how a vehicle can be unwillfully parked though, perhaps it has been parked after it was stolen? Perhaps it was parked after it broke down? Maybe the driver was taken ill?0 -

And this whole thread not about a broken down vehicle?
If the obstruction isn't unnecessary and the windows were put in whyndoes it need removal? I bet plod isn't putting much effort into investigating that crime.
