I won b*gger all last year - trouble is the previous 2 years I won a phone. Talking of how the advents now aren't as engaging do you remember the one a couple of years back on FB where you had to find the all hidden phones - think it was Carphone Warehouse. I used to love doing that one and I won on it. There doesn't seem to be anything like that about this time.

Just shows you that a lot of compers aren't just about clicking to win anything. Quite a few of us have bemoaned the loss of the Haggis (hated that one btw) and the others that actually took a bit of time. We kinda knew it wasn't 'worth' the time in relation to how many clicky comps we could have entered in the same time - but we had fun.....if fun is the word I'm looking for here.
    Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%
    SEALED POT CHALLENGE MEMBER No. 428 2015 - £210.93

Was the daily haggis hunt not just a case of clicking to win crisps, calendars and various other tat ?

Yeah - it wasn't one of the ones I entered but lots of people loved it. And it can't have been for the prizes because they were rubbish - so it had to have been the engagement of the game. Maybe that's what some people are missing this year - something that feels 'skills based' in the loosest sense of the word.

It's like the 3 Barrels sudoku - I did that every day for......I don't want to think how long for. Never had a sniff of the brandy and it kinda wasn't about the brandy.....

Basically I am navel gazing so I don't have to go outside in the cold and finish washing the car :D

Does anyone know how the instant win advents work ? If I enter in the evening the chances are the prize has already gone and so am I effectively entering a closed competition !

Not necessarily. If you think of them as 24 hour rolling comps...there are usually selected times during the day that will be a winning moment and we never know when they are. Some are bound to be in the evening, so it is just down to luck. I know a girl posted on Di Coke's page that she won a curved TV in the very instant comp (I think). That is quite a good win for an instant!
  • Hey everyone,

This is my first year of advents so it's all a little confusing, but I'm enjoying it :)

Are most of the winners announced after the end date of the competition e.g. end of December/beginning of January ? Or do they tend to announce the winners each day?
  • 611 people have already entered to win a scouring pad???

    It's crazy!

And a teensy weensy bit stingy - you'd think for the value of it, they'd give away at least 10.
Like I said before, some of the prizes are rather underwhelming (and I've just realised, I've actually entered that comp to win a scouring pad lol)

I actually enjoyed it, not so much for the prizes, but for the effort that they put into the site. The 'haggi-pedia' they created was always good for a laugh.
    That's what's missing this year. It's a shame.
