What gives you that idea ??
The OP clearly got lucky, you'd have to be fairly foolish to simply ignore the fact that name on the ticket is incorrect and hope that no one at the Airport notices
The airline will deny boarding if they detect the difference in names, if they only detect it at the gate there's a good chance that there won't be enough time to correct the issue0 -
You are incorrect, Emirates charge £35 to correct a misspelling, they will not allow a non refundable ticket to be reissued to a completely different passenger.
It's not just a simple matter of changing the name on the ticket, the ticket will need to be cancelled and another issued in the correct name.
A link to the name correction policy would be useful as I can see nothing in any of EK websites including the EK agents site.
The booking does not necessarily need to be cancelled with BA for instance corrections less than 3 characters (used to be up to 3 characters) before ticket issue can be actioned by the travel agent, after ticket issue and more extensive changes then BA will reissue the ticket with a £30 fee in the same booking but then the agent looses control, any future change will be through BA.
Doesnt matter if a ticket is non ref or refundable name changes generally not allowed.
Maybe you have confused EK with BA0 -

The site is password protected so a link won't work.
Name Changes: name change ticket reissues are permitted by Emirates in case of genuine name error due to incorrect spelling of ticketed passengers. The passenger can be rebooked in the correct name and have their ticket reissued at the original ticketed fare. A fee of GBP35 will be payable for the name change reissue.
I haven't confused BA with EK most of the legacies have similar policies
I think at this stage of the game it's safe to assume that the booking has been ticketed.0 -
No problem, whats the site Im happy to register and being in the business should be no problem with authentication.
I can see the ticket has been issued.0 -
I recently booked a ticket for my friend and got his surname wrong, from GOSIAN to GOSAIN. I tried calling airline and agency through which i booked (BudgetAir) but was thrown from one end to another. We went to airport and nothing happened, No problem at check-in.
Our mistake was very Minor, even my friend didnt figure it out until i told him but if you have got the whole surname wrong or something big, chances of getting caught are high.
Just check-in online and try your luck.0 -

Yes, that's another way out of it.
If there's an automatic-kiosk that allows you to insert a credit-card or something like that it would work because no one would look at your Passport at least until it's time for boarding.
That is because the ticket is automatically printed from that kiosk, and then you have the tickets, no need to speak to any human being ... just go through security (they only need you to scan your ticket, not your passport) and then go to the plane and when it's time to board I doubt they would give you hassles by then.
The only thing that might not work is in case the kiosk doesn't work ... or in case where you have to check luggage then let the person on the booking with the correct name to do it on his name.0
