I would point out to your employer that you were absent due to a work related injury and that you'd like details of the firm's insurers so you can make a claim. You could also drop a hint that you'll be talking to the HSE Health and Safety Executive about your accident.
Some firms of solicitors give half an hour of free advice or you might be able to access a legal helpline through your home contents insurance if you are not in a union. Definitely worth exploring those options further.0
