Has anyone had any problems posting mail to Japan?

I've had a request from someone in Japan to ask if I would post an item there. Has anyone ever had a problem with mail not arriving in Japan? I suppose it's the same as everywhere though that the occasional parcel can go missing. I've had 2 to my niece in Australia go missing over the last couple of years. Just wondering before I answer.

I have had a few sales to Japan with no problems.0 -
No problems with Japan. Ensure you've added a CN22/23 if sending with Royal Mail. Add your return address.0

Sent a few times without issues, though I did find that Paypal messed up the format of the address - I had to google to find out what format it should have been in and re-arrange it.0

Just make sure its tracked, posting to Japan can be expensive, I sent a parcel early this year it cost £30, I hsd to fill out 4 forms for customs and attach to the front of the parcel.Jane x0 -

RM will be the cheapest under 2kg. A simple CN22/23 will suffice, no need for forms attached with RM.
There is no requirement for tracking and we don't know the value of the OP's parcel.0 -

As has been stated already tracking depends on value of item, have a read of the postage sticky thread.
OP also says they are used to posting to Australia and that is the same charge zone as Japan , so costs are unlikely to be a shock.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your advice everyone. Can always rely on you good people replying. Very much appreciated! It's only an item of clothing so I won't bother tracking it although I would prefer it not to get lost as I'm then out of pocket if I have to refund the item plus the postage cost. It would be with Royal Mail so I'll use a Customs slip. My item already has a UK bid on it so maybe that's how it will work out. Less chance of items going missing that way, I suppose, as not many have gone missing in the UK over the years. I don't like to put overseas buyers off though as I have sent various items to various countries (just never Japan) and always the chance of future sales.
Thanks again folks!"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."0 -
would just like to add that I have sent a few hundred items to Japan over the years and never ever had a problem. (doesn't mean it will not happen) IMHO Japanese buyers are a pleasure to deal with.0

Tosh. I have a higher % of INR on my domestic sales than international sales.
Really? Guess I've just been lucky then. I can only remember 3 items over the years not getting there (UK) and whether they did or not, who knows? Anyway sounds okay for Japan. I know everything is a risk if not tracked but I'll take the chance if they win the item."For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."0
