Cheap Granite Worktops

I have just had a kitchen fitted and the company that were going to supply the granite worktops have totally let us down. I want Galaxy Black worktops.

We are in the West Midlands/Worcestershire area :) Can anyone recommend a company that can do it cheaply for me? (and quick!)

    Hi Doozergirl,

Natural granite with sparkly mineral deposits can work out expensive. Have you considered a composite quartz surface. This is made up of quartz particlesbonded in a polymer resin. There is a top in the range that has mirrored particles. Having discussed it with a friend in the trade there are many different manufacturers: Apollo Quartz, Luxore Quartz, Zodiaq and Silestone to name a few which offer a similar style top. One was called astro black.

Think the price is around 2/3 of granite.

    Have a look on Google

    Hope this helps

I have no personal experiences with them but I have heard they are pretty good on price.

I'm actually using these people! I didn't see any replies to my thread until today :)

The quartz people I had spoken to previously were coming out more expensive than the granite  Although admittedly, it is cheaper than granite in places like B&Q

We got some granite for our worktops at a really cheap price. The only minor issue with them is that if you put your head inside the cupboard and look up at the bottom of the granite you can see writing carved into it. As you can't really see the carving on a normal day-to day basis it's not a real problem.

Actually, some of the carving is pretty artistic and quite interesting. "In loving memory", "Dear departed", "Darling Wife", etc. Some have really nice scripture carved in too.

    A real bargain though. :)

    Granite is ordered :)

£2463 for Stargate Granite, fully fitted for quite an impressive sized kitchen. I don't pay a penny until it has been fitted. Granite arrives end of next week.

    Doozergirl,
Was it diapol who let you down, or are they the ones you are using instead? Only I was thinking of using themself before I read your thread......
