Not sure if any of the Hyper models will fit your case (unlikely as you say), but they are very good. I would consider the case mod to fit if I was you (have been known to take a pair of tin snips to components to make them fit my last case which was a midi size).
I have an AMD FX6300 Black which is OC'd to 4.1Ghz out of the factory and have a Hyper TX3 Evo cooler on it. Big form factor, but I rarely get above 25 degrees under load. Well worth it for £17 when compared with the stock cooler from AMD.0 -

I dont mean to be rude but 25c under load cannot be possible. Do you mean idle?0 -
Be as rude as you like. You have just spotted perhaps the most glaring error I have made in a while
. That should have been 55 deg
That'll teach me to 1. look at the numberpad and 2. proof read the important points in a post!!
I have 5 temp sensors in my case to go with the seven fans in there, and I monitor the temps regularly across the whole system (not just the 5 case probes).
Granted I'm not running video editing suites or the like, but I am running full spec gaming and have yet to see any massive heat spikes or have a fan run above 60% either on the CPU or in the case.0 -
25C under load can be possible when using phase change cooling.0

Not for £17 though0

Im really confused about how to proceed. The consensus here seems to be dont get a H80i but an air cooler instead. I would actually prefer an air cooler because then there is no possibility of leakage and frying my whole system. But the aircooler I need for OC purposes are too big and I cant mod my case because the side panel access has this weird diagonal plastic metal railing split thing going on.
I'm very confused as to how to proceed but I do actually have to change the cooler because the reviews/negative word of mouth concerning Coolit Eco Alc make it seem like a timebomb waiting to happen.
Sigh.0 -
Not necessarily the most MSE thing ever but have you considered getting a new case? Given you were willing to spend money on a H80i, you could pick up a decent sized case that is better equipped to handle larger aftermarket coolers as well as provide better airflow through the system.
Coolermaster CM690III mid-tower case has support for CPU heatsink and fan combos up to 171mm in height. As an example, the Noctua NH-D14 is 160mm. CM Hyper 212 Evo is 159mm. It's not a massive amount of clearance but it will fit. That's just one case though, there will be other options that are probably cheaper (there's not much difference in price between a 690III and a H80i).0
