Maybe op has a certain look which is commonly associated with being gay. In the same way somebody can easily put themselves across as a womaniser or as other things too.
Stereotyping is of course not fool proof, but it would seem you've been subtle in playing the 'that's a gayist comment' card - often a card waved around as soon as skin colour is brought up.
I don't know if they did assume I am gay or not but I know with regards to woman garages are renowned to pull the wool over their eyes.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

But you're not a woman are you.... so that has no relevance at all to this situation. Even if we do go down the stereotype route, and they did think you where gay - does that automatically mean you know nothing about cars? You're still a man. Men tend to know a lot about cars, gay or not. I don't see the relevance.
You need to wait for the results from the independents. If they confirm an inherent fault with the alternator then you'll have a case.
But as it stands at the moment the garage are operating well within SOGA, and without proof of an inherent fault your case will be thrown out.0 -
Have you not read. It's already been independently tested and was faulty. The garage may stereo type not saying thats going on here but the stuff they have said to me about one thing and another and its absolutely rubbish when looked into.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

No it was said to be 'faulty' by the other garage. That means absolutely nothing as far as SOGA is concerned.
To be SOGA compliant you need to have the alternator assessed by an independent expert, they need to write a report to prove that the alternator is inherently faulty - otherwise you have no claim.
Unless it's an independent expert in the field (READ: NOT A GARAGE) or the manufacturer themselves, it'll not be valid evidence of a fault. If this went to court it would be thrown out within 5 mins.0 -
The garage sent it off for testing and a report came back I'm awaiting a copy of this.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

Until I see the copy which I'm told is on the post I can't say anymore on that but the conclusion was that because there is nothing wrong on the vehicle the alternator was not rated for the vehicle duty, basically not upto the job. There was evidence of melted plastic on the coil. I reiterate the car was tested and nothing on the car was faulty. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

If the garage used the wrong specification alternator then it's more a case of negligence.
Will this report show if the alternator is the correct rated one for your particular vehicle?0 -
They couldn't identify it normally there is some stamp or sticker on there to identify it but I guess that bit is upto the garage to show invoices for what part was fitted? Maybe I'm wrong though? If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0
