Problem with Talk Talk Billing

I left Talk Talk on October 16th and moved to Sky. The move was confirmed at the start of October.
I spoke to someone at Talk Talk who confirmed that I would only recieve a final bill from them to pay.
Imagine my horror when on Sunday I recieved an email saying my latest bill was online.
This was not a final bill but my latest bill taking money for a service I was no longer using, the bill was generated on the 15th October.
I have had several online conversations with Talk Talk customer services who have stated nothing they could do to change anything and I would recieve a refund around 3 weeks after my final bill is generated, I was told this could be 6 to 8 weeks after leaving Talk Talk.
So now I am faced with financial hardship, Talk Talk have effectively taken the money that was my food money for a few weeks, when I told them this I was almost told oh well never mind.
Is there anything I can do to sort this mess out, the direct debit was taken yesterday.
Thanks as I am worried sick how I am going to eat for the next few weeks.

If it was a Direct Debit, then contact your bank and ask them to reverse the payment as it was not a correct bill. Under the terms of the DD mandate, your bank will have to reverse the payment immediately.
And cancel the DD as well, which you should have done immediately you left TT. Their account system is the absolute pits."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Then contact Social Services or Citizens Advice Bureau .0 -
You NEED to record all conversations with these people from now on. TT have well documented form for doing this and have been fined twice yet they still continue to do it. They lied to you. Its not a mistake or an error. They do it all the time.
Make sure you have documented evidence of the cancellation and then get the money refunded by your bank. Then cancel the DD.0 -
Thanks for all the responses.
My bank refused to credit my account back as they said when bill was generated it was correct.
TalkTalk have said I will get a refund after my final bill is generated on November 15th. But have been told it will take around 6-8 weeks to process.
I have told them this isn't good enough but all they do is quote its in the terms and conditions of contract.
As I cancelled the direct debit they say any refund will have to be issued by cheque which will add on another week or so.
Is there anything at all I can do to get my money back?
They are earning interest on my money and I am not happy.

Point out to your bank that it was an incorrect bill (which I think you can argue it was as it was too much) and under the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee, they have no alternative but to refund you."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry.
