how do i go about doing this?

I had a lloyds tsb bank account that i used from what i was little i changed it as i got older from a classic account to a select account sometime between 2006-07 i have some statements showing i have paid from 2007-09 from some of them up to £450 in charges not including any other statements i haven't found yet. i closed this account to move banks but not sure when i closed it.

Who do i write to to get my statements from say from Aug 2006 to account closure.? So i can work out how much charges i have to then make a claim.

I think i will have to request this under the Data protection Act.

Does any one have a template i can use?

Does any one have the address that i can write to request the statements?

Thanks

What charges are you referring to?

The banks won the court case so there is no obligation for them to refund any of the fees mentioned.

You can ask but its really only hardship cases that are looked at by banks now.

You must be in hardship currently, be in a cycle of debt and be only just paying priority debts. So any sky subscription, mobile phone contract etc will make the hardship case fail. Some banks will scrutinise your statements for spending habits.

Even with the above, most banks will only refund up to a maximum of last 6 months charges in hardship cases.

On what basis would your complaint be?

Since the banks won the court case, the only time the banks refund charges now are incorrect application (i.e. error), goodwill gesture (such as first time mistake) or current financial hardship (i.e. you currently bank with them have current financial hardship).

Even with hardship cases, they only have to consider what is fair. Options open to them can include no refund but things like suspending future charges for the next 6 months or making it interest free.

With a closed account from 5-7 years ago, there is no goodwill from them to refund anything and you are not in current financial hardship as it was so long ago. You can ask but you would need an exceedingly generous staff member to consider your request.

No. That is not the case. You are thinking of credit cards and over limit charges. No ruling was made on current accounts.

The time to raise it is when you are in hardship.

You can actually request copy statements 2 ways.

Either contact the bank's customer services and request them.
    It will cost you £5.
