Easyjet delay causing out of hours charge for picking up hire car

Hi, apologies if this sort of query has been posted before, I'm new to this forum. Just wanted some advice. Back in June I flew to Ibiza with Easyjet. The flight was delayed causing us to pick our hire car up after midnight which resulted in a extra €50 charge. The delay of the flight was because a chair had broken in the plane and they either had to get it fixed or fly with it broken and someone on the return journey would have to get another flight home as that plane was full. So the delay was from Easyjet having something wrong with their plane. I have been trying for months to try to get the money back, finally ringing today as I hadn't heard anything since August, and they have told me that if I had hired the car through them with europcar then I would of had the €50 refunded. However because I went else where and rented with a different company I am not entitled to a refund on this charge. I find it very hard to comprehend that because a fault with their aircraft causing me to be delayed that I have to pay a charge for a hire car that if they had been on time then I wouldn't of had to pay. Sorry if I sound like I'm rambling, very !!!!ed off with Easyjet. Just wanted to know if anyone has any advice on what I can do? Has anyone had this happen to them?

A delay over 3 hours should lead to compensation if the fault is down to the airline however consequential loss (car park charges fall in this category) are not. EasyJet though have been known to may a goodwill contribution however it appears you got an unsympathetic hearing. Your insurance may cover for this but your excess may be around the same figure. Post should have been on the easyJet thread.0
