Take it to a main dealer or a posh garage for the MOT they will phone you to arrange a convenient time and deliver you a car and bring yours back when its passed.
Of course you pay through the nose for that.
Some garages will contact you when the MOT is up. Most dont bother because you may not have the same car next year.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
U may have to tax the car again as there is a new law when u buy a car u have to tax it your self and the last owner has to claim a refund this is in force from this month.0

A v5 only shows who is liable for the car for fines etc . It doesn't mean you own the car . All the car's we have/had are in my name but one belongs to my wife . Nothing wrong with having it like that.0

MOT you have to remember yourself. Though for a small fee they will text you.
For the tax you will get a reminder - they want your money!!0 -
anyway, what do I do this that document? also, they have my name wrong!
Get in touch with them, they should be able to re-issue with your name correct.

To be fair, ALL of the information you ask for can be found by reading the guidance notes printed on the V5C, the MOT certificate, or the V62 or VED guidance notes on the .gov website.0 -

But the OP needs an email to do all this as well as being notified if his bank card is being used and what rice and sliced cheese to buy for its toasted sandwich......

Before being overly smart and assuming the OP is daft - we need to remind ourselves that everyone who comes here for advice may not be a native English speaker.
And even if English is their first language - they may have come from another English speaking country so that our rules and regs are unfamiliar.
As has been said
No reminder for MOT
MOTs are carried out by private garages, contracted to the DVSA, to do the tests. Whether they work on the weekend is up to them.
A postal reminder for the VED (Tax) will be sent.
Yes you can do the VED online.
No 'badge' or disc will be issued now due to very recent changes.
You do not need to carry any car documents or personal ID with you - but may be required to produce them at a police station of your choosing if a police officer requests them.0 -
Is this a new new car, or just new to you? In other words, does the number plate go something like AB 64 CDE, or are the numbers in bold different?
If the numbers are 12, 62, 13, 63, 14 or 64, then you will not need an MoT just yet. If there are any other numbers on the number plate, then you will need to get an Mot (or just check when the current MoT runs out).
Another way to find out whether the car needs an MoT, is to look at the section on the V5c that states when the car was first registered. If it was more than 3 years ago, it needs to have a current MoT.
Using the information on the V5c, you can tax the car (Vehicle Excise Duty, or VED). I think all you need to do is go to https://www.gov.uk and search for 'motoring' and 'tax' and you should be able to tax the car online. You will need your V5c document number to do this. The system also checks to make sure that your car has a valid MoT and whether you have insurance. You do have insurance don't you?
Most local garages can do MoTs. Just give them a call and ask them. Usually, you can wait while they do the MoT (I think a proper one takes 40minutes to an hour to complete) or you could go shopping and pick it up after it has passed.
You don't need to carry anything with you when driving really, but if you are stopped by the police, you will be asked to produce your driving license and insurance documents, either there and then, or at your local police station.
Make sure you know what your service intervals are for the car. Usually, they are every 12 months or 12,000miles (whichever is earlier) but I would check the handbook and see what the MoT garage say with respect to servicing.
Hope that helps.
