MOT and tax

hello!

I bought a new car, what are my obligations?

Will I wait for a reminder to go for MOT? In my email or mobile phone?
Do MOT's work on weekends?

As for tax, will I wait for a reminder to pay? Can I pay for it online and have the badge delivered to me?

Is there anything else apart from MOT and tax?

What car related papers do I need to carry with me? The insurance contract? what else exactly?

Is there anything else in general that I should do?

thanks!

Surely when you bought it you checked mot, so know the date it expires?
You have to tax it now.

Do MOT's work on weekends? - you won't get a reminder for the MOT (Assuming you are in England?). It is illegal to drive a car without a MOT (except to the MOT Station)

As for tax, will I wait for a reminder to pay? Can I pay for it online and have the badge delivered to me? - There are no tax discs any more - and yes you can pay your tax online or by phone

Is there anything else apart from MOT and tax? - Ensure car is roadworthy regardless of MOT - check tyres are good etc

What car related papers do I need to carry with me? The insurance contract? what else exactly? - Don't think you need to carry anything, but if stopped and you don't have it with you have to bring it to a police station

Is there anything else in general that I should do?

    thanks!

Good luck with the new car

    Where?
Make a note of when you tax it maybe, and do your own reminder.

Did you receive the document in the post, or was it handed to you when you bought the car?
