  • Absolute favourite is GG

    But I would rate.Biolats as a very close 2nd

When I used bk it was £15 / 2 bags compared to £20 for 2 bags of GG

Bit it then went to £20 as well so switched.to gg which has a very slight edge on clumping

However I certainly wouldn't pay £5 more for gg of that makes sense

With bk being on offer of try that!

I use compressed wood pellets and I think they are the best thing since sliced bread :)
They dissolve into sawdust when they get wet and smell lovely, naturally.

I remove the poo and flush down the loo (doesn't matter if a few pellets are stuck to it as it dissolves straight into sawdust in the water)
Then I sift what's left with an old chip pan basket to separate the pee soaked sawdust and re-use any pellets that are still intact. Saves me a fortune - I have one very large cat who has a giant litter tray and only need to buy around 2-3 big bags of litter a year (around £20-30 total).

The re-used pellets don't smell as they are full of pine resin which is a natural de-odouriser/disinfectant and the used crumbly stuff can go in the compost bin (pee is good for compost - my granddad used to 'visit the bottom of the garden' to give his heap a 'dose' regularly :D ))

I use Pets at Home own brand - I did try Wilkinson's own a while back but found the pellets didn't crumble properly which made it impossible to sift the dirty from the clean litter.
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!

I used to use those when I had one cat - for one cat any litter is fine really.

Hated them dissolving into dust to be honest as you can not scoop the dust out and that is the bit that is soaked with pee. So I was changing the tray every single day when using this litter.

We are talking about 4 cats here and that is a whole different story :)

I ordered the Biocat now at just under £80.00 - that will last me a year for 4 cats so £20.00 per year per cat, brilliant price and scooping "deposits" out ensures cats do not forever walk in their own pee - as all clumps.
  • I use "Cats Best Oko Plus cat litter" for my Persian which is great.

It's 100 flushable and clumps very well. It is a bit pricey though, but if you can get it when it's on offer, it really is worth it.

It does clump fairly well (not as good as BC / GG) BUT ...... the tracking is horrific :(

Cat litter (6 bags) arrived at my daughters, the one for my friend (another 6 bags) is due to be delivered today.

Mine (12 bags)was was sent out but not coming today yet, possibly Monday...

Miscalculated, thought I ordered a year's worth but 12 bags is 6 months worth of use for my 4 boys as they go through 2 bags per month.

Going to do whole litter boxes change when it arrives and if good - will order another 12 bags :)

If no good - will start a "moan about Biocat litter" thread hahahah - like we had about Tigerino :)
  • Well ..... hats off to Zoo+ as the order placed Thurs night has arrived today! (it seems to be quite a good day to order as I've done a few then that arrive on Sat!)

In case anyone else is thinking of ordering the Biokats but isn't sure:

    First impressions are good :D

    1-biokats_zpsf5262e56.jpg

Coverage: If the tray looks really empty - it is big ..... 8 inch at the front & 11 inch at the back.

It's plenty deep enough for Mia but will prob need another 1/2 bag for Archie as he digs down about 3 inch before he goes - I needed more than 1 bag of GG in his tray too.

Dust: I upended a whole bag and there was no dust :T

(Actually the last batch of GG I had was quite dusty and a bit of a different colour - even though it was the same one I usually get. A few people had the same so not sure if it was maybe the end of a container:()

Weight: Def lighter than the GG - I think there might be slightly less in a bag but really not a huge amount

Smell: actually it was a lot less strong than I was expecting & not unpleasant at all

Can report on clumping later if that would help!

I've tried quite a lot and have settled on using World's Best Cat Litter - that's actually what it's called. It's the clumping type and I usually get the 6Kg bag for about £16 which lasts me about a month (amazon subscription) for my Cat and Kitten.

It's a maize / corn mixture. I flush it down the toilet with no problems at all (which I couldn't do with the clay type). Reduced the problem of having a smelly nappy bag in the bin. Best I've used in terms of odour, but there is always a maize-y smell near the litter tray and poop smells of poop at the end of the day. I've read reports about concerns about bacteria in the maize and how dusty it can get. I've had no problems in terms of illnesses and I think the dust problem arises if the whole lot of litter is never changed.
