Travel insurance covering pre-existing illness.

Does anyone have any insight/recommendations on this? I just want a single trip policy for three weeks in Greece next summer, but I'm getting widely varying quotes including absurd prices (£928, £1128, £1516:eek:!). The only one I've had below £900 is from MIA for £145 which is reasonable; but leads me to think there are probably others competitively priced, be grateful for any suggestions.

Does the pre existing illness have an association or charity in its name? My husband has cancer and we looked on Macmillan web pages where they had some companies named. We just had to phone some of the companies to get quotes.0

I'm in the same boat as your husband, though the treatment finished and the end of February and I've been clear since. I've been right through the ones on the Macmillan site so it's the ones they list that have given me the monster prices:(.
It may well be that MIA is the best I'm going to get and I could live with that, I just thought I'd try here on the off-chance. Thanks anyway comeandgo, hope your husband has a good outcome.“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0 -
I use Staysure and they cover my pre-existing conditions without a huge fee. I don't know if they're any good for your condition but they might be worth looking at.0

My mum used Saga for her holiday beginning of Oct to Gran Canaria for cover for Crohns Disease and Kidney Stones. They were very reasonable and helpful too

I use the horribly named "Goodtogo" insurance company - was cheaper than Staysure for me.[0

+1 for Staysure, I find them helpful and clear with documentation0

The insurance I have excludes my cancer. No-one will cover it until I am clear for 5 years!travelover0

Thanks all for the suggestions, very helpful. Slight annoyance is that my particular cancer isn't common so it doesn't appear on the "existing condition" lists all the companies have online, so I have to do it all over the phone! Feels like I'm back in the dark pre-internet days:).“Procrastination is my middle name....well it would be if I could be ar**d to contact Deed Poll."0
