Mouse and keyboard lag

Just lately my mouse pointer sees to lag with the odd brief pause when moving across the screen with brief pauses and delayed response to clicks. My keyboard also misses letters and seems to lag somewhat. It seems more apparent when on websites.
I haven't installed anything on my computer, I have Avast anti virus, have scanned with malware bytes with nothing found. One thing that did happen about a week ago was the new java update. I installed and had this very same problem. I rolled my Windows back to a previous date and it stopped it. Now it is back but I didn't re-install the java update.
I am using Google Chrome on a Windows 7 home premium PC.
Thanks.

Are the keyboard and/or mouse wireless...?0

Batteries / wireless connection usual first suspects . Followed by drivers /settings .0

Followed by checking Task Manager for any process using high CPU resources.0

Yes they are wireless but batteries just replaced in mouse. Keyboard never needs batteries for years. Will check all suggestions though. Thanks.0

Sorry... I hate wireless keyboards and mice with a passion!
The first thing I'd do is try to work out whether it's the keyboard/mouse or the PC itself causing the problem. If you can beg/steal/borrow wired input devices, give them a go to see if the problem persists.
The range of wireless input devices isn't always that great. I eventually got a ~£50 Logitech wireless mouse with a docking station that kept it recharged and acted as a receiver. I only stopped using it and switched to a (wired) trackball because of my RSI.
I've never found a decent enough wireless keyboard to keep me from insanity, though. I eventually got a £10 (wired) Microsoft Internet keyboard and it's better quality, more ergonomic and more reliable than even the most expensive wireless keyboards.
Otherwise, to improve the range, reduce the distance between transmitter and receiver, ensure no solid objects block the line-of-sight, move any objects that could be causing interference (nearby cables, wireless access points, video senders, microwave ovens(?!), etc.) and replace the batteries.
If that doesn't help, throw the keyboard and mouse out of the window. It won't help, but you'll feel better. :-)0 -
It's certainly not my wireless mouse and keyboard for sure. batteries new and worked fine for years. Works fine on PC before I open Google, then it slows down so the problem is something to do with browsing.0

Yeah, I have to second the "steer clear for general use" idea.
Wireless is handy when say lappy is HDMI'd into TV, but generally caused me nothing but a VAST amount of aggravation.
Could be they're old Bluetooth and the compatibility isn't that great?
Could be you have windows 8.1 and whilst they can give the impression they work, you will really need to update your kbd/mouse.
A cheap wired mouse and keyboard can be had for about £1 or £2 each of course!
Not worth it for the aggro imhoFriendly greeting!0 -
Do you get a lot of disk activity when it's lagging?0
