Hi,
I have freed myself of contracts and don't want a landline.I need a broadband connection just to check emails, bank and Facebook.I am a light user preferring to use free wifi spots.Any good suggestions on which supplier or how to boost my free wifi access would be welcome.I tend to use a IPad mini mostly.

For now, if you want broadband you will also need a land-line.
There is a possibility this will change in future, but for now it's a necessary evil.
Check the Post Office out as they do low cost land-line service.0 -
No land-line required if you use Mobile Network Data .0

Definitely DO NOT need a landline - you could buy a MiFI device -one of the Huawei range for instance - and use it on a PAYG basis rather than contract. You can usually attach numerous devices via wifi to the mifi device - the huawei I have allows up to 10 simultaneous connections and can utilise 4g rather than just be limited to 3g speeds.
Or you can tether your mobile phone to your tablet if your contract allows for this and use your mobile data allowance.0
