For money laundering purposes, please can you prove that the car is yours?

There is comedy in mortgages I'm just not allowed to talk about it much!

If the stress, anxiety of humiliation of being asked to adhere to a legal and professional requirement is too much, there is another option.

Instead of using the banks money, why don't you purchase the house as cash...

Oh, thats right, you don't have £200,000, but the bank does, and they have rules and legislation to follow...

So, maybe you could borrow money off the bank, and they could help you buy your home....

    hang on....

Also if you are being serious, which I doubt you are not, you have not clearly worked in a regulated environment.

Solicitors answer to the SRA, FCA and ultimately the law. They pay significant PII to cover mistakes or erroneous claims. Anti money laundering is the same for everyone, and one thing they will not overlook, to protect your clearly delicate personality. I am not sure that ensuring you are not offended is worth the risk of a custodial sentence, losing their home, practice and possibly funding the arming of terrorists, trafficking of young women, funding drug purchases.

I AM NOT saying you have done these, however the checks are in place to ensure that their risk is minimised and organised crime is not funded.

    Have i just bent time?

Surely, I only have to prove the wheel is mine? ;)

I'd like to complain to try and effect change on these rules or receive compensation for being falsely accused of a crime i did not commit. Can someone help me. Who can I talk to about this?

Showing your passport at immigration does not mean that you are being accused of being an illegal immigrant. Showing your receipt on the way out of B&Q does not mean that you are being accused of theft, and being asked to prove the source of funds does not mean that you are being accused of money lending.

There are many laughable and pathetic examples on this site of people demanding compensation when they are not due any, but this is perhaps the worst so far.

If he went to purchase a house with £200k cash, I dont doubt for a minute that solicitors would want to check where the £200k came from.

Even renting they would want to credit check, possibly bank statements/payslips/references etc.

So long and short of it is to go and buy a tent (for cash... otherwise they would want pin numbers!) and pitch it up in a camp site, or remain living with family but as Dave picked up on, they appear to want rid.

Suspiciously similar issue recently raised on another thread (slightly different 'proof' request provoking the OP's ire in that one, though): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/66824459#Comment_66824459
