Changing Air Filter
Hi everyone,
I drive a 2007 Civic Petrol hatch 1.8 and do about 80 miles a day.
One of my friends suggested changing air filter every 3 months boosts the MPG by about 15 mpg.
At present I am getting 46 MPG which includes motorway and town driving. Air filter is changed during annual service.
My car has done about 120K miles.
Any comments? Does anyone change air filter every couple of months?
Thank you.

Have you noticed a drop of 15mpg since your last service?0

He's pulling your chain - forget 15mpg, you'll be lucky if you get 1.5mpg, 0.15mpg is probably closer to the mark.
If you could get anywhere near 15mpg then everyone would be modifying their air filters - the car manufacturers would be supplying them factory fit with huge air filters just to bag that extra mpg for their marketing.0 -
Absolute rubbish just do it with the service as recommended in the service schedule.0

I've got some magic beans. Would your friend like to buy some of them?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Oil and filter change yearly or 8000 miles whichever is the soonest is plenty.
I change mine yearly where the mileage maybe less than 4000. But its lots of short heavy traffic journeys so worth doing.
I also change the oil every 6 months for the same reason.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
15 miles extra from a tank sounds more plausible if changing from a dirty filter.
However 15MPG is crazy talk.0 -

If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?
