Return flights to Washington for 201 GBP

WOW Air offers super cheap flights from London Gatwick to Washington for 201 GBP.

Flights are available from June to October.

  • Flights are being launched to both Baltimore-Washington (BWI) and Boston (BOS). Lead-in fares are £99 from London Gatwick to both cities, slightly more on the return, plus a booking fee.

Wow Airlines is an Icelandic low cost airline. Like their competitor Icelander they're looking to grow connecting traffic through Reykjavik.

The westbound flights are clearly a loss-leader - less than £10 in the fare, and more than £80 in departure taxes, charges and UK APD. The return is quite the opposite, more than 80% of the ticket price is air fare and the remainder is departure tax from the US.

Note that BWI has a rail station on Amtrak's busy north-east corridor between Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, New York and Boston. It's also a hub for budget airline SouthWest. It's a cheap and very useful hub not just for the nation's capital, but also the rest of the country.

You joined the party too late. There were £200 flights throughout the peak season.

Even with what is left, it is not bad for August.
