Ao.com
How did you pay? (cash/cheque/debit card/credit card etc)
Credit card
What went wrong?
This dishwasher does not dry properly. It is supposed to have a "turbo fan heat system" so I expect it to dry everything inside, but it doesn't!
I have had an engineer out to look at it twice now, the first time he had to read the operating book before looking at the DW. We showed him photos of the problem, but he ignored those and reported back that the DW was working correctly but it still didn't dry the dishes.
Then it developed a high pitched whine, halfway through a wash cycle, which could be heard everywhere in my 3 bedroom house!
We called out another engineer, and when the local company called to book a date, I told them I was not happy with the first engineer and didn't want him back in my house as he didn't give the impression he knew what he was talking about. The local co. agreed and then sent the same engineer! He did at least take some panels off and tested something, and when he started the DW he heard the high pitched whine. When he left he said he would report that noise (at least) back to Beko. He then told Beko that he could find nothing wrong!
We have asked Beko to use an alternative company as we have no confidence in this one, but they refuse!
What are the vendors telling you?
We have told the vendor that we are rejecting the goods under the Sale of Goods Act as being unfit for purpose (what's the point of having a dishwasher if you have to dry the crocks yourself). They say that Beko will have to send another engineer to confirm it is unfit for purpose! My argument of "the engineer can only tell if the drying system is working or not, he cannot tell how efficiently it's working, and he doesn't have the 1 to 3 hours to hang around waiting for the program to finish" falls on deaf ears.
What solution or remedy are you looking for? (Companies may Repair / Refund / Replace) refund. I want a replacement (not a Beko).
Am I being unreasonable?

How about you ring beko and put the phone next to the dishwasher when the sound is happening?0

We were given a dish washer about 4 months ago by a relative who was emigrating.
All went well with it until a few weeks ago when it started to leave dishes wet, I decided to look at the handbook and found that with our model a Hotpoint you need to top up the rinse aid compartment if this happens.I never even knew it had such a thing! but top it up I did and hey presto dry dishes.
Not sure if yours has same item but hope this helps.0 -
Ah if only it was that simple. My hubby ensures that the DW is completely filled up with both salt and rinse aid.0

Can anyone tell me if I have the right to reject this dishwasher because of the non drying?0

No-one will be able to give you a yes or no answer.
Have you read MSE's Consumer Rights guide?
Here is a short extract:ACT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
The crucial point here is whether you've been deemed to have 'accepted' the goods. While there's no standard definition - as it depends on the circumstances - here's a couple of factors to bear in mind.
How long you've taken to respond
How long shoppers have to check if goods are shoddy, or service has been done properly, depends on what's reasonable for that specific item or service.
It could take six weeks to check that repairs fix a leaky roof. But you can tell in hours if a Blu-ray player works.
After this time, you're likely to have accepted the goods and your rights are lowered.
But that is only an opinion.
You haven't said when you first reported the problem, but if it was within days of delivery I would say that you have a good chance of rejecting the thing... again, just an opinion.
You need to keep AO on side... upsetting them may not help you get the desired result.0 -
Thank you for your reply.
I am very happy with the service I've received from ao - it's the manufacturer who I have the problem with!
I shall keep on telling AO that I am rejecting the goods under the sale of goods act 1979 as they are unfit for purpose ie they claim to have a turbo drying system that doesn't actually dry!0 -

Yes. Have you already reported it to them or only the manufacturer? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
There is also a consumer forum called white goods-it might be worthwhile posting there as they are experts on these type of products0
