Having done the DLR bit last year accompanied by a troop of Star Wars Storm Troopers, various superheroes and Iron Man I don't think you'll have anything to worry about!

Accompanied my teenage kids last year (under sufferance) and was a bit sceptical about the whole thing but I have to say everyone was so friendly, I don't think I've ever spent the day with a nicer bunch of people.

    Enjoy your day!

Thank you! I have to pretend that I'm being dragged along to these things, but actually I'm a bigger sci-fi fan than my daughter so I secretly enjoy it. I'm just sorry I'm too old to cosplay myself or I'd look really sad.

Thank you! But we won't have oyster cards as such, but rail tickets with zone 1-6 travelcards which I think should be OK?

yeah thats fine... no barriers so not a problem.

need it just in case an inspector is on there.

i have been out of the scene for the last six months, can i confirm what to look forward to this year?

Oh, I'm not the person to ask! My daughter & friends are more into the Anime side so they are cosplaying as Death Note characters, but that's not cutting edge.

Thank you to everyone for the advice - we got there and back safely with a minimum of fuss.

The Bakerloo/Jubilee line changes were easy, because we only had to walk a few feet from one platform to the other. At Canning Town, they were obviously well set up for running events and there were lots of staff directing people to the DLR, which was busy but not overcrowded. Another time I might be tempted to do more of the journey on the DLR, because it is nicer travelling above ground.
