Ibought a laptop on July 31stand it has a faulty space bar. I've just been in contact with Acer who've asked metosend it to them which isallfine and goodif theydid a day or two turnaroundbut they've said itmay take 7 days ormore. I use the laptop for business purposes.
Is it acceptable for them todo this whenI've innocently bought a laptop I expected towork (it's been faultysince I got it but I thought I couldlive with it when I was just using the laptop for browsing but now that I actually need to typeon it the space has become veryirritating)
Thanks in advance

From MSE's Consumer Rights guide:
The rest of that article is worth reading too.Know who's responsible
When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying “go to the maker instead”, it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.
However, re-reading you original post, where you say:
If you purchased the thing as a business, then you have no consumer rights.I use the laptop for business purposes.0 -
7 days, bloody hell that's fast, are you kidding, sending it and return delivery could take longer than that, excellent turn around.
Now your problem, your a business so you don't actually have consumer rights. But apart from that they could take much longer 4 weeks or more is not unusual so you are lucky.
As a business you are mad not to have a backup in place so the blame falls squarely on your head.0 -
I amnot a business. Iuseiffor my business purposes (in this case - job hunting ;o)0

There are other ways of job hunting without the internet.
7 days isnt long0 -
The first thing you need to understand is that job hunting is not business use.
Stop using the term business use... it will cause you all sorts of problems.
Have they got computers in your local library you could use?0 -

Job centre? Ask a friend if you can borrow theirs? Or write/visit local businesses and ask if they're taking on any employees? Internet on your phone perhaps?
While its an inconvenience, I'm not sure it can really be seen as a significant one or not.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
