I sold an item on my private account, trying to boost my sales there to water down the defects. Item went to Spain, fully tracked and insured via Royal Mail.
Had the 'its been a week where is my item, eBay say it is late' message (no case opened). Checked tracking to find parcel has arrived safely in the hub at Stockholm in Sweden:eek:
Phoned Royal Mail who don't seem at all surprised, apparently these mis sorts happen and it will get resorted at some point, loaded back on plane and sent to Spain.
Problem is of,course that buyer can open a claim now as eBay say it should have arrived by day 6, and that claim could well close in buyers favour before my parcel is redirected and delivered.
Even if no case is opened, buyer would be perfectly entitled to ding my stars for late delivery.
Great isn't it.

I posted something to the UK on Monday, and yesterday had a request for the tracking number. It was £2.50 with free post, so obviously not tracked.
I'm just waiting for the "not received" message.
Ebay really is becoming totally soul destroying

Soolin, you have suggested some very good ideas for messages to soothe and reassure and encourage buyers to wait a little longer. If anyone can keep this together for a few more days until it is delivered it is you!0

Thank you.
I have heard back from the buyer who is happy to wait a little longer. She seems amused by the fact that it is in Stockholm, so hopefully this won't turn out as badly as I feared.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yep.
Although I don't understand the new 'request' system..and eBay 'help' doesn't seem to explain it at all. I have had a message headed 'request- where is my item' but that doesn't show as a case in my resolution centre. In the old days I would think 'hurrah' no defect, but nowadays with all the glitches (I have to get that word in as often as I can for my 'follower' ) I suspect there is something I've overlooked and by not responding properly I am going to get a defect eventually.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. RM 2-letter country codes are open to misinterpretation.
I sent an item to Tel Aviv, Israel, cut-and-pasting the address label which bore the country code IL for Israel.
If I had amended 'IL' to 'Israel' the item might have got there instead of Illinois, USA.
Switzerland is CH but I always amend that to 'SWITZERLAND' otherwise it would probably go to Czech Republic.0 -
Well the good news is my parcel got there and my buyer has left glowing feedback. The tracking however still shows it as being in Stockholm and awaiting sorting.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I had that problem with all my mail going missing and I just emailed, emailed, emailed to keep everyone informed. I got 5* across the board for communication and, in the end, just 2 opened cases when there were 40 missing parcels in the system. Some of them too 3 weeks to the UK. Some I refunded and the buyer mailed me back to say they had got it and would pay again.
I think 99% of buyers are completely understanding if you explain the situation to them, the minority however, are the ones that can get us shut down or abuse the system put in place to help honest buyers not get screwed by dishonest sellers. Which the majority of us are not.
I now am down to 4 defects in 3 months and no opened cases. Fingers crossed it stays that way!!!
Soo, as long as you message your buyer with an update when you have it, I am sure that it will be just fine. xxx0 -

I do not understand this as my invoices show the full name of the country, not the country code. not being funny but there is no way I would use a 2 country code as, with the number of states in the US who have a 2 letter state code it is bound to end up in the wrong place.0
