 Does anyone get replies at all? I've waited for a reply to my query, but no luck?

  • we would like to go to New York for 5-7 days, and then onto Barbados for the remainder. The details we have sketched out so far are as follows, currently our only quote is from Trailfinders for the below price which is roughly what we have decided for our budget, but think a better deal is possible:
    • The Quote itself: £4000
    • Who the quote is from: Trailfinders
    • Is there a booking fee: probably, not sure
    • The Tour Operator/Airline/Hotel: Virgin from London to NY , AA(i think) from JFK to Barbados
    • The departure Airport/Post:
      Any London
    • The Holiday Dates: June 30th - July 19th (NY= 30th-6th,,, Barbados 6th-19th)
    • The number of people travelling (inc kids ages): 2
    • The Hotel (or * if it’s allocate on arrival): NY= The Bedford -+- Barbados= Crystal Cove
    • The Board (self catering/half board etc): NY= self catered -+- Crystal Cove= All Inclusive
    • Any specific requirements: Honeymooners perks would be nice...
    • Is an in-flight meal included: probably but irrelevant
We are totally flexible on the NY Hotel, would just like to not too far from "Manhattan midtown" - have 3* in mind. Also could reduce it to 5 nights if it is beneficial.
For Barbados, Crystal Cove has good reviews and sounds good for an all inclusive honeymooners holiday, but again open to suggestions, have 4* in mind. Definatley need good access to activities such as watersports, maby golf/tennis etc.

Members of MSE like myself,Saveapenny and others do help when we can but have noticed the lack of responses we get back after spending time on quotes for others. Many dont ever reply back,no thank you nothing and this is very annoying when you have spent precious time doing them a quote and actually puts you off replying to others.
I do try to help when and where i can and alot of regular members asking for quotes are great and nearly always reply back it seems its mainly some newer members that have forgotton some manners.

Many thanks for any better quotes. This is for my 18 year old son and his mate! Other similar all inclusive hotels for this price or cheaper would be considered. Travel dates are fairly flexible, as are destinations!

Edited to add: Sloppychops has kindly pm'd me a few ideas to look at using separate companies (Ryanair etc rather than a package holiday through Easyjet) which I'm going to research. Meanwhile, if anyone else has any package deals better than my quote with Easyjet I'd be grateful).

I can quite understand that.... I'd feel the same. However, I find this new thread a bit frustrating really. I appreciate that Martin doesn't want individuals advertising but personally I like to see the responses to posters asking for quotes... however as this is only done through pm I don't get to see the outcome (unless people edit their posts or post a thanks etc). I feel like a book is ripped out of my hands before I get to know if it is a happy ending or not! :D I'm also interested to know just how good a deal is possible with the right research skills and background knowledge.

I've seen how helpful several posters especially Saveapenny and Sloppychops have been over an extended period and I can quite understand how annoying it is if people don't bother to even acknowledge their help let alone thank them. I for one promise that if anyone does pm me with a better quote for the holiday I posted yesterday (see my pp on this thread) I will acknowledge, thank them and edit my post to say if/when I've booked!

Hi i have just found this forum, I would be very happy to help people with quotes with their holidays but as saveapenny has said please can you say if you have booked as it takes a long time to do the quotes and this is the busiest time of year in the travel industry.

many thanks look forward to helping anyone with their holidays
  • The Quote itself: £999 per person or £1989 for both.
Who the quote is from: The holiday place
Is there a booking fee: No
The Tour Operator/Airline/Hotel: I think Sri lankan (?)
    The departure Airport/Post: Heathrow
The Holiday Dates: 20th Oct return on 31st (via columbo) 10 nights
The number of people travelling (inc kids ages): 2 adults
The Hotel (or * if it’s allocate on arrival): Sun Island resort and spa 4*
The Board (self catering/half board etc): Half board
    Any specific requirements: honeymoon package??
Is an in-flight meal included: I don't actually know!

    Also includes sea plane transfers.
    (basic deluxe room)

This is for our honeymoon so I really want it to be as great as it possibly can! I think its a pretty good deal but if you can add something, upgrade something, extra night free maybe... anything of the sort! I would be so happy... if you can quote any lower than this then that would work too! Remember... HONEYMOON I want to get it sorted, make us an offer we can't refuse!
    Thanks! :T

BOOKED WITH THIS ORIGINAL QUOTE - seemed to be the best! - Thanks to anyone who gave it a go!
