Sky backing out of offer (after installation)

Hi there,

Would appreciate some advice as unsure about what to do about this.

Signed up for a sky offer (installation was yesterday) which was £26.20/month for the standard tv bundle, unlimited broadband and sky talk (free weekend calls), plus £100 in vouchers, £100 credit. I was sent my bill last night and it is £33. In calling Sky, they have told me that whoever offered me that deal was confused about when they could offer free broadband (i.e. I don't have the sports). It is now going to a team who deal with offer mistakes but essentially Sky have no obligation to give me what they promised (apparently).

Should I push this? There is 40% off tv on the account and the guy was saying that they can't apply more than one offer at a time - which seems like rubbish. I'm now out of my other service (BT) and will possibly have to pay re connection charges etc if I cancel Sky. Incredibly annoyed about the whole thing

Thanks,

Lisa

Do you have a joining email or web page with what you say your offer was .
  • No, it is all for the incorrect offer. The call was recorded however so they aren't disputing that I was given it.
  • You have a 30 day cooling off period with sky for all services I believe. their money bank guarantee.

If you aren't happy with what they are providing you with you can cancel it. TV would normally go off straight away and they send an engineer to get the box back. Phone and broadband are dependant on whether you want to keep your number or not.

At this point you don't have to stay with them and aren't tied in.

Is there any reason, having an email saying what you were actually going to get was different from what you thought, you didn't contact them sooner and query it?
  • Yes I'm not too worried about the prospect of cancelling sky, it is more the inconvenience of getting my old provider back and paying fees for this.

The email offer I have is what I had agreed to originally (then my old provider matched this so I went to cancel, & then came the better offer). I simply wasn't looking out for an email with the updated offer

    Thanks :)
  • See if your old provider will still match it........ or call sky to cancel anyway and they may give you what you were promised
