I've literally just applied for this online so will keep you updated. I've been loyal to Orange/EE for YEARS with no major issues, but they couldn't match the Talk Talk offer.

Talk Talk worked out almost £200 cheaper over 18 months (after factoring in the £100 shopping voucher - which I hope will come in time for Christmas!!)

    All thanks to the Moneysavingexpert!

Why don't you ever query and ask for feedback on MSE offered Sky deals?
  • I signed up for fibre large on 21st October following a dispute with BT about their price rises.

I've not prepaid for the line rental so effective price is £25 per month before the voucher is considered, which is about £13 per month cheaper than BT's best retention offer.

They emailed me confirmation promptly, and I've since had further correspondence through the post. Their estimates gave me a download speed of 35mbps, where-as I'm receiving ~65mbps with BT. I queried this on their community forum and they got back within a day confirming I would receive speeds equivalent to those I have currently.

The line goes live on 5th November so I will report back then, but so far it's fairly encouraging.

Broadband goes live later this week - no real issues so far, apart from me selecting a date for the engineer to visit (this Wednesday), which they then text me to change to Thursday.

Oh and the router not fitting through the letter box, so I had to arrange redelivery!

I hope this isn't the start of things to come!!

Latest update : Engineer due anytime this morning between 0800 and 1300. Arrived at 0910 and was done and dusted before 0930!

He simply plugged in the new router after doing some modifications at the exchange. I now have an initial speed of 23Mb, where the previous broadband was a max of 5, so quite happy at the moment!!

Apparently the speed may increase over the next few days too - I signed up to a max of 38Mb so we're not too far out.

We'll see how the billing side of things go now....

Talk Talk fibre is fine and their pricing is good.

It's their 'customer facing' people that let them down really, really badly.

Their retentions guy promised me all sorts of stuff. It took hours of phone calls plus two letters of complaint to get what was promised.

Then they 'broke' my phone line for a whole week because they botched the fibre installation. And I found out they don't do customer service. They just employ untrained people to answer the phone and read scripts.
  • An update: The switch from BT Infinity 2 to Talktalk Fibre Large happened on 5th November.

I had trouble configuring my existing BT Openreach supplied modem and my own router at first, and so plugged in the Talktalk "super hub" thing, and was disappointed to see my speeds had dropped from 65mbps with BT to ~45mbps with Talktalk.

After reading around I found a guide to configure the modem and router separately and my line speed increased back up to 65mbps. The provided router evidently isn't as effective.

I was pleasantly surprised to note that the vouchers arrived a couple of days after connection, by recorded delivery, with no need to request them.

Talktalk also offer an "early billpayer discount" of 10% if you pay the bill by card within 24 hours of receiving it. This is an odd concept as I'm setup to pay by direct debit, but in the words of a now-disgraced supermarket - "every little helps"!
  • I upgraded and went live on October 24, since then I've had nothing but problems with the Fibre optic, engineer has been out but still not resolved. I phoned TalkTalk to cancel the service and was told I would have to pay a disconnection fee – for a service that they are not providing:mad: Paid £50 in the first month for hardly any service (only works early morning and after 10 pm).
I had similar issues when I first joined TT 5 years ago on regular Broadband, it took them 10 months to sort it out. I spent 2 months trying to get it fixed then just gave up, after 10 months it seemed to just fix itself.
  • Another update about the switch - the £100 shopping voucher has arrived, perfectly in time for some Christmas/sale shopping.

Overall I have to say that the switch has gone very well - much faster internet with virtually no downtime between the switch, and the vouchers have turned up as promised.

The final step is to see if they get the billing correct....lets hope!

Why does MSE seem to only recommend broadband based on pricing? TT used to have a diabolical reputation. OK recently they've improved to terrible but I still wouldn't take the risk.
