Spoke to my solicitor, he said contractually they need to be out per 2pm on completion day and that funds from Halifax will arrive first thing on the Monday. I've booked mover for 1 so hopefully can get keys from agents by then as they are close to the fkat I'm buying

I'm excited but feels ages to go!
  • We didn't get the keys until 5pm and that was only cos we started moving in while they were still moving out!

Our sale (bottom of chain) completed first - had a call from my solicitor at 1.00 to say we could release the keys, and stand by phone to wait to hear re purchase.

    (lunch break??)

Called him at 2.00 to ask whether there was any sign of my purchase completing yet, and on checking he said oh yes the purchase has now also completed. So got the keys at 2.30.

Picked mine up from estate agents at 2pm. Went to the house but a few boxes were still there as they couldn't fit it in the van - so I quietly slipped away for a couple of hours just so that they could sort themselves out

  • About 9.30am. No chain and vendor was moving into rented accommodation and had already vacated property 2 days beforehand. Keys collected from EA.

First thing is to change locks.

We are purchasing a property and it is due to complete 5th NOV ish...lol

Previous property purchases I have had, either had the keys before completion (unusual lol) or before mid day.

Its always exciting getting the keys and unlocking the door for the first time.

this latest property is a bit out of the ordinary so god knows if it will complete on date specified by solicitor or if I will get the keys promptly. (and the solicitor is rubber earing my emails lol)

    Due to call him tomorrow

Hate to rain on anyones parade. I got a call around 3ish on Friday to say I could collect keys, go to estate agent about 4 to find they had closed early, and the earliest they were open was Mondday!!!!!!!
Good job I was moving from rented, mind you I had great fun filling in their "customer satisfaction" survey. I think the firm went out of business within a year
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
