Q re mac codes

I work for BT and as an employee recently got free bb which I gifted to my sister. She was an orange bb customer. So she rang orange, got her mac code which I gave to bt when I ordered the free broadband. 5 working days later her btbb is on all ok. She still had orange bb right until she switched to bt.

Now my problem is that orange have told her bt didnt use the mac code, so she has to pay them another months bb charges! She wasnt in any contract with orange btw. My understanding is a mac code is needed if there is a another isp on the line, which there was as she was still using orange ok until the day it switched to bt.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

They are lying. We cant over-ride broadband except for a full LLU line whch this obviously wasnt.
