Log in to your account on 18185 and you type in your text on the website and it will appear on your recipients phone as coming from your home phone.
There is no connection charge.0 -
18185 just bill you for the call you make, my average shop and home bill is £6 per month; and we really use the phone.
we still have to pay the standing charge from BT though, but the calls are much cheaper.0 -

Have still not be able to send international text ? I have tried to make a phone call using my mobile, but I key in the access as 18185 which of course was wrong, the call came out of my phone provider. I cannot remember the access number to use to register the mob number to be able to send international tx. Please can somebody tell me in simple steps what I need to do? Thanks.0

My mobile number has been registered with 18185 since January and I thought I'd take advantage of this SMS service. However when I send a text message, the recipient is not seeing my mobile number as the sender but a number which seems to form part of the caller ID tab, that you see when you are typing a message. Therefore I am not getting any replies to messages that I send via the 18185 website. Anyone else having this problem?0

Can't help as I only have my landline registered and therefore the texts appear to the recipients as coming from my landline but check out the thread in Home Phones here which might help.

Yes you can register just a mobile payg or contract. You just need to make one call from it via the sites access number, for you to be able to make the text appear to come from your mobi.0 -

Yes, I am having this problem, when I sent international SMS, it appears to come from my landline number. I have registered two mobile numbers but it does not appear on the caller id tab, only my landline number and another 0808 number. I guess, you can always put your name at the end of your tx so that the recipient knows who it is from.0 -

Hi Edinburghlass, I also only have my landline registered.
Some are saying you must register a mobile number, however it seems to be working for you. Can you tell me what number you used from the drop down list, homephone or the 0808 number.
Thank you.0
