erroneous defect

I posted on here about a month ago that I had received a glowing positive and 1 * s across the board. Acting on ebay advice, and having double checked with CS several times- I badgered my buyer into contacting ebay to tell them he had made a mistake.

I then spoke to ebay who said they were happy that the buyer had not intended to leave the stars, so removed the feedback and told me the stars and defects would go in about 5 days.

The defects never went and until yesterday I could click on download a report and still see his stars against his item number. Made the stupid error of actually trusting ebay (i KNow I know) and waited until today when my dashboard updated.

Guess what, I still show the same number of defects- no problem I thought, phone them and explain that they promised the defects would go when the feedback was removed. Except, when I click on download the report, that defect doesn't show- only the two others.

So my report shows 2, the most recent one that should have been removed has gone, but my headline figure is still 3 defects.

Phone Dublin, get told they can't see the detailed reports but if I was told a defect was removed then it was removed- so the third one must have happened today- and doesn't yet show in the download. I told them it always shows straight away otherwise what is the point- but they disagree.

So, I have a defect which even they can't see but apparently it is legit- just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.

Defects are a joke.... you have 120 days to get it removed. After that time they cannot remove it.


I think its numpty month lol (too many probs with buyers this month)


We have had a few defects removed and they have said it can take upto 48hrs. (never trust ebay lol)


In the meantime since the system is live I reckon it effects search standing.

I still can't get my head round a defect merely because a buyer asks nicely ( but via resolution centre) when a parcel was posted. Said it seems parcel was at the delivery office and was then delivered a couple of days later. Buyer messages to say happy with dress. Anyone had those defects removed ?

My latest is buyer who wants a refund before he returns the item, one that he bought in error.

Depends who you get on the phone. Some say buyer is unhappy because they had to contact you in the first place...some just remove.

I got someone that is !!!!!ing about a 99p item. started returns procedure and threatening a neg.....defects been created by requesting a return. Threatening Neg is pointless lol


so refund move on block. there is tight and there is tight lol

I can't get anything removed anymore, ebay hate me.

Mind you, as for numpty buyers I fear it isn't just ebay. I had 2 facebook sales at the weekend, neither turned up one doesn't want the item but 'forgot to tell me'. The other re arranged for this morning.

I sent a text asking what time and have just got back 'changed my mind- no longer want' - about the level of politeness I have come to expect on ebay, but not on facebook.

I've got as French buyer on ebay who has sent a 'request' telling me his item is overdue and he wants a refund- ebay told him it would take 4-6 days to arrive from date of payment! I can't see that request anywhere in my resolution centre, so have no idea what to do other than respond via the message and just refund in a day or two.

I might go back to bed

I got a defect for INR, item was posted and signed for 5 weeks ago. After being passed around on the phone the case was closed in my favour and was told defect would be removed, no such luck, defect is still there a week later.

That would be fine if they hadn't back-dated the defects a year.

If your bringing something in - at least have the decency to start a fresh. How could people avoid defects that did not exist then.

So to sell on Ebay you must now be able to see into the future.

The defect i got for not delivering an item bought on Saturday by Sunday is hiding from me.

It shows in the headline percentage figure and looking back over the 12 months - but download a report and says congratulations you have no defects.

Was told by Live Chat that they had removed 2 defects for INR as the buyer messaged to say items had arrived, and closed the cases.

They are still showing. Yet another case of Ebay telling you anything to get rid of you
