I want to cancel Barclaycard
Comments

Been in similar situation, I kept my barclay card open using occasionally to keep my credit rating active. Barclays will start to sent you more interest free offers which means if you again have to do another balance transfer in the future you don't need to get another card. Only thing their deals to you will normally be for 1 year and new cards are offering 30 + months but you can always negotiate.0

is your Barclaycard limit equal to or higher than your Halifax balance?0

You can cancel at any time - even if taking an advantage of a promo period. Nothing wrong with transferring the balance to another interest free period with another lender either. They all offer them.0

I've tried that before on several cards and all refused me, they wouldn't let me transfer anything from the Halifax, I've also beeen told that Barclaycard charge a much higher rate of interest than Halifax and that what I have with Halifax is actually quite good. The problem I had with balance transfers was the minimum amount which is just under £50. I can't afford much more than that so didn't want to, if i had the choice, to transfer a lot of debt from one card to the other and then for whatever reason my minimum payment to Halifax was still around that £50 mark. I'd need to know just how much lower that minimum payment would be if i managed to move £500-£1000 across.
Ideally I'd love to move the lot over to another card and keep paying £49 per month and use it solely to pay the debt off but I just keep getting refused. I will phone them and see what they say. The limit they gave me was £800 which was fine. I think I have over £4000 on the Halifax One card but £2500 is what I owe on it and that's going back to around 2009. I only found out this year that people could transfer balances, I knew nothing about this at all and when I tried to it with I think it was 4 cards, everyone refused me. I didn't get it to buy things, I just got it to boost my credit rating by buying small things and then paying them off.0 -
If you are unemployed and have been rejected several times recently then I think you need to face the fact you are are most unlikely to be given another credit card.
If you were only intent on improving your credit rating then that suggests your credit rating is not that good to start with. Balance transfers at 0% are generally only available to those with good credit ratings.
I'd say your best bet at the moment is to keep paying AT LEAST the minimum monthly payment on time every month to start chipping away at that outstanding balance.
You should investigate ways to supplement your income or reduce expenditure until your circumstances improve. You will get more help in this respect if you have a look at the <Debt-free Wanabe> board - you may be surprised at what small adjustments to your lifestyle can do for your financial circumstances.
I'm not saying that change will happen quickly but it will happen if you stick at it. Good luck.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

That's it done in less than 6 minutes. I asked to cancel and they did and read my the cancellation agreement and said I would have a letter in the next 5 working days and thankyou for my business with them. No offers at all.0
