Euro Car Parks - £70 for a £1.50 ticket

I drove to work (normally cycle) as I had a meeting to go to later on. I rushed out of the building and (genuinely) forgot to pay (it was one of those payment on exit number plate reading ones). £70 instead of £1.50 for the full day seems a bit much. Though if I pay up now it's £40 and it's gone away. Work is hassle enough, is it worth appealing or just bite the bullet?

Euro have never done court.
Read the Newbies thread - two appeals deals with it - no hassle.

Obviously don't pay! Read the Newbies FAQs thread near the top - that's why it's there. Everyone here wins at POPLA v ECP, easy as shooting fish in a barrel. No hassle at all, just 2 emails! Follow what the Newbies thread tells you and don't add anything to imply who was driving.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The Newbies thread is the second post at the top of the forum (under the POPLA thread). Sorry I can't post a link.
Once you've read it, start a new thread about your parking situation and people will be happy to help.0 -

I sent off my first appeal letter (27 Oct), but I've received no acknowledgement from Euro Car Parks. I have however received notification as I have not paid within 14 days I now have to pay the full sum within 28 days of that letter (time is up on Tues 25th). I tried phoning today to check whether they received my appeal but they don't work weekends. I've emailed just asking them to acknowledge receipt and I also attached a copy of my appeal. What do I do?0

Oh don't ring them! NEVER ring a PPC or debt collector! If you know the appeal was received (e.g. if you did it online) then just WAIT.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Unfortunately I didn't appeal online. I sent them the appeal letter on 27 Oct. All I've received since then is a notice to keeper demanding £70. I've now sent the online appeal but as it was after 28 days of the initial letter, I expect they will say "too late" In which case I'll just have to pay up?0

Why on earth would you do that?0
