    If you complain about PPI on a debt which remains unpaid then the Bank can indeed offset any redress (should it be awarded).

    Setting off rules here;

    I'd be inclined to let sleeping dogs lie if I were you.

    As a general rule, yes.

    Of course if it is 10 years since you've "heard anything off them", they may well have closed the account and trashed the documentation by now. So unless you've kept the documentation ....

    Statute barring is about them not coming after you for the debt. However, the debt still exists and they can offset it.

    Sounds like they've already offset against your old debt (which is why they say your "account" is in Collections)

    You'll obviously have to wait for them to investigate further if you are getting conflicting messages. I'd wait for the letter they will send.
  • Theire is nothing related to nat west on my credit report is theire a chance of getting this refunded
  • I am in the same position with RBS, my trust deed was in 1999. PPI redress has been referred to the Debt Management Team. When I phoned for an update, they have no record of me. It looks like a waiting game.
  • There is nothing on my credit report relating to nat west is their any chance of having this refunded
