Fibreoptic broadband

I'm currently with Sky for broadband, TV and phone. But I was looking at my list of programmes on my planner and all bar one are on freeview channels. So I thought I might cancel Sky and get fibreoptic broadband (our current broadband is only 6mb).

The choices seem to be BT, Talktalk or Plusnet. Does anyone have any experience with any of these?

Switched from sky to BT TV 10 months ago.

TV bill went from £60 per month with sky to just £25 with BT.

    We pay;
£16 for sky movies - this we're going to get rid of shortly, sky never seem to update their movie line up and half the stuff on here is ancient anyway (I mean !!!!!! they've got stuff like Alien on here)

    £9 for entertainment (discovery etc...)

The box itself does have a few issues.

    - Unless you disable energy saving mode it'll take 4-5 mins to turn on in the morning.

    - It seems to freeze/become slow a far few times per week

    - Sometimes the sound will go off unless you pull the plug out (and wait 4-5 mins for it to boot back up again).

We've had BT take a look at these issues. Do a full factory reset of the box, even replace the box, they still happen - I'm assuming its just a common thing. Probably will be fixed in a later software update.

These are all minor annoyances, I'm happy to put up with them due to the fact we're saving 35 quid per month over sky.

Is that the box for the TV AJXX or for the broadband? Is the broadband reliable?

I've been with plusnet and it uses the BT network and has been fairly reliable. It depends on your area. They should all be as reliable as each other.

I switched from Sky to BT TV years ago. My TV bill went from £64 a mth (full package) to £34 (with Sky Sports 1 & 2). The quality and reliability of the internet channels is/are excellent, and the HD picture quality is stunning. Infinity's not cheap though, so its swings and roundabouts.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

The box I'm talking about above is the TV box itself (the youview box).

We've had BT's internet service "infinity" installed for around 1 year 3 months. That has been excellent, well worth the money. Never had a single problem with it, not so much as a single outage.

At first I begrudged the £26 quid per month cost (we need unlimited) but it really is worth it, it's incredibly fast and super reliable.
