Barcelona is great - I went there on my own this year and it would be perfect for a group of friends. There's lots of bars and restaurants, plus loads to do in the day depending on what you like - loads of shops, a themepark, hostoric buildings and architecture, the beach, etc. Museums are free on certain days, and you can get a t10 (10.30euros for 10 journeys) card on the public transport which was fine for me for five days. Not overly expensive, expect to pay about 9-15 euros for a decent main meal, or you can get menu del dia, which is usually a starter and main for 10 euros. Imagine London, if it were on the seaside and half the price!

I booked my hostel (£68 for 5 days) and flights (£70 return) separately. Flights were through Easyjet from Luton, hostel was booked through booking.com. I redeemed my nectar points and really only paid £18 for the flights. A quick check on booking.com shows quad rooms for about £400 (for the room) for the last week of June - that's £100 each.

I went to Zadar, Croatia with 5 girls in June, it was great. Excellent weather and food, nice bars. We paid less than £100 for flights and rented an apartment which cost us £50 each for 3 nights (sharing double beds) definitely spent less than £300 each. We are mid 30s but a colleague who is 23 went recently and loved ir so something for everyone!
