    I agree with you.

Which is why I think it's so good that the OP is trying to make sure these people do claim what they are entitled to.

Yes, I think so too. Also, there have been a lot of name changes with successive governments. Pension credit used to be called something else. JSA used to be called unemployment benefit. I was once asked if we were on income support and I didn't even know what the term meant - that was a long time ago.

But there was no need for that comment about my g'children being on benefits and my learning about benefits from them. That is completely untrue.

    .

It was minimum income guarantee (mig) and I can't remember what the new name is going to be. But in effect it is going back to a update version of MIG.

...anyway, after the usual sort of side-issue argy-bargy between 2 posters, back to op and your sensible, necessary quest to help.

This also passports them to nhs dentistry and free sight tests. My optician has good budget frames @ £19, price unchanged in >10years.

Good luck. I'd say the Age UK route is better than risking any possible Clare In The Community via Council or similar..

You get free eye tests (and prescriptions) from age 60 and some opticians (Specsavers being one of them) do give discounts to people over 60 for their glasses.

    Your income doesn't matter.
