Need hard drive / DVD recorder recommendations

I am looking for a hard drive and DVD recorder as mine has broken
The features I need are the ability to dub the hard drive recording to a dvd and edit it ie not to include the adverts and be able to record a series, will they all do this? sorry if this is a silly question.
Anyone know where I can purchase one from or what they are called so I can search myself, gogling hard drive recorders seems to just bring up that however I want one with the dvd included.
Thanks

I have 2 Freeview HDD/DVD recorders. The latest is a twin HD tuner Panasonic 3D/BluRay/1TB which allows transfer to DVD (or BluRay) but, annoyingly, does not allow editing of recorded programmes.
OTOH, my first purchase (now discontinued but still available used or refurbished on Amazon) was a 160Gb Sony RDR-HXD870 single SD tuner unit. That allows easy editing of programmes and transfer to DVD.
I'm much more pleased with the Sony.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Heinz - is your Panasonic the new DMR-BWT740? I was thinking of buying one to replace an old Panasonic SD HDD/DVD recorder (similar to your Sony) which allows editing of programmes recorded to the HDD. I thought that partial editing would still be a feature based on a quick look at the manual online (via Richer Sounds), but your post is making me think twice. Appreciate your feedback.0 -
If you are looking for high functionality at a low cost what about a DVB-T Dongle and using it via a computer - you can pick them up for about £5 or £60
