What could I get off Virgin

I've been a VM customer since the ntl: days and I still have the little blue ntl: modem which I run through a netgear router.

With finances getting a bit tight I'm looking at all options.

I have M BB, anytime free calls landline and the M tv package.

We have just got a NowTV box and whilst the internet connection has been ok for the things we have running from it it does now seem to be slowing down.

We now have no need for the TV package so I will be letting that go.

I want the faster broadband and would be happy to let the phone go also.

If I phone them what is the chance of getting a free wireless hub in the deal to replace the old modem?

Can anyone advise if their customer service dept is open sundays?

What broadband package are you on, they have been replacing modems for free for a while now so people can get faster speeds. I'm surprised they haven't already contacted you.

They are open on Sundays too. Your best bet is picking the I am thinking of leaving option, as technically you are because you want to drop TV.

All of the current products require a Superhub. The modems can't deliver more than 20Mbps tops and some not even that. If you take a faster package you'll get a Superhub. It will probably work out cheaper too as VM customers who don't call in every year to renegotiate get stiffed.

You might get a cashback or something for upgrading, so check on TopCashback, Quidco etc.

This is assuming you don't want the hassle of switching between Sky, BT and Virgin to get the introductory deals.

You haven't actually said how much you are paying for what you have today...

I'm happy to give up the phone and have no need for the TV.

Have a look at the Big Bang bundle.

Normal price £45.99, but you get £10 off for 12 months,
so you pay £35.99 a month for a year.

If you are out of contract, you are quite likely to be offered a bundle.

The reason for switching is, I got the deal above as a new customer, plus £140 cashback from Quidco.

I really like the Tivo, and paid the £49.95 one off charge for the 1TB.

I was paying £25 for broadband only but then got a letter telling me that was going up £1.50. Thanks to advice on MSE I compared prices with Talk Talk and found that it would cost £16.45 per month including line rental. I then phoned Virgin to cancel. When they asked why I told them about Talk Talk's price. They promptly offered to drop the price of my broadband down to £15 per month which of course I accepted. I had no intention of going with Talk Talk who I think are a horrible company but, again thanks to excellent advice on MSE, I was able to use another ISP as a bargaining tool. So I suggest that you follow the same route as I did.
