Changed meters from pre pay to eco 7 at beginning of Dec 04. Hadn't received a bill in April, so called them and was told one would be sent.
Two weeks later called again, was told the bill had been prepared but stopped for no apparent reason. Gave another reading, but still no bill.
They take ages to answer the phone and I'm getting really fed up, not to mention worried aboiut the size of teh eventual bill.

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

I have had a similar problem.
Elec meter changed in april and took them till Jan to get the bill correct.
Gas meter changed in November and still not got a bill which this promised would have been sorted out by end of April.
Been told I should get it in another 14 days.
Powergen a awful when it comes to having meters changed0 -
i had this with powergen too although they did sort it in the end, and i had a direct debit with them so they just took it from that. I would suggest setting up a direct debit that you set (ie £20/month) and when they finally release the bill and if there is a big difference just say you cant afford it and agree to pay month by month via the direct debit etc.ummm...0

Not knowingly changed meters myself and have been a powergen customer for over two years but I have now not received a bill for 7 months (4th Oct). I pay by DD and had amassed a credit until this week where my credit has disappeared but no bill to back this up. When I spoke to them they said they had a new billing system which was having teething problems (over 4 months?) and I should get a paper bill version sometime soon.0

I am with Powergen for both Gas and Electric because they are the cheapest but they are erratic with their billing to say the least!
I have had to query my bills a couple of times. The last gas bill was based on some crazy reading which did not even have the correct amount of digits in it. I think I was lucky on that occasion to get someone on the phone who was quite helpfull and she sorted it all out.0 -
I changed from Powergen because they were so useless with their bills. An elderly neighbour who is still with them has not had her November 2004 electricity bill (which alleged she had a new meter - she hadn't - so charged her twice for the same units) sorted out yet despite numerous e-mails (all copied to EnergyWatch) on her behalf since then.
I've now told her to put the money away and tell me if she ever receives a bill so I can check it for her before she pays them anything.
Powergen are hopeless (and not the cheapest in this area anyway).Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
We have just moved house. And powergen are supplier for both gas and electric. Anyway as we don't know what the running costs are for the house yet thought we would stay with them and see.
Anyway the owner before us was a OAP so they assume we are and put us on the oap rate and send us two energy saving bulbs. Ring them up to correct that.
we have been here 6 weeks and we have had a gas bill and was way over as estimated. So we correct that and it halved. And they sent us a electric bill that was again over estimated by nearly 100 units out. So hubby has corrected that.
They are using the last owners usage for us. But we are not them. And we having bills now to correct us for the quarterly billing I am.
Don't understand that.
We did get a free £10 B & Q voucher for choosing them. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure we will stick with them. But until I know what a quarter we are paying then it is hard to know who is best to change to.

Powergen do this a lot. They don't seem to be very accurate with their estimates so each time I get a bill, I use the online access to enter the correct meter readings and get a proper bill.0 -
will people please stop complaining about this, not just for powergen, but against all companies.
if you move into a new property and do not give the company a quarterly read, they will have to estimate. as they have nothing to base the bill on, they may use the previous tenants consumption as a guideline, but only because they have no reads.
if people get their first bill and it is estimated, please just cal them to amend, instead of complaining.Beware the green?0 -

That is very kind of you "April 2" to check her bills for her, as we know elderly friends who are very vulnerable, but you may also like to know that Powergen do a special deal for over 60s where they charge a fixed amount and the OAP(s) in the house can use as much elec/gas as they need to without having to worry about the cost.
I would suggest you look into it on their website...0
