New driver : Tracker

Last year we had a tracker put on our car with the insurance.

The renewal came around & we cancelled which remotely disconnected the tracker.

Since having the tracker we have been having battery issues which it's not holding the charge. We've though of all the possible ways & believe it's the tracker that is continuing to drain the battery.

Because the tracker is remotely disconnected & not under insurance needing the tracker are we able to remove it our selves ?

If I removed it. Would I cause any damage to stop the car from running ?

Can you locate it? Maybe it has it's own fuse you can remove.

How have you tested battery drain?
Some cars you have to wait a few minutes with everything shut before they go into sleep and you get a true reading.
I had to test a car I had from 2001 which did this.

That depends entirely on you... It'll be eminently possible to remove it without causing damage. Equally, it'll be easy to cause damage if you don't know what you're doing.

I managed to find the fuse to it & have disconnected the fuse.

Time will tell after we re charge the battery. Update tomorrow morning lol

Sometimes though it can last a few days until it drains it depending on how long the charge was

Maybe the cold has found out a tired old battery?
Any idea how old it is?
But as you say, see how it goes first now it's disconnected :)

This is the only thing we can think that's doing it.

Can you test this at home yourself ?

We're trying to solve minor things before MOT

Would be a good guess but was doing it throughout the summer also. We just had to get up earlier and charge it.
