Oh dear - there was more bad news that I'd forgotten about! My EF is now down to £438.40 - due to an emergency I hear you ask? No - that also went towards the living room renovations and yes the house pot is also nearly depleted!

I did however just pay £152.14 off the new CC debt. And I had also managed to double insure the house (didn't see the auto renewal letter in amongst all the post holiday letters) but managed to cancel without incurring a charge even though it had renewed on Saturday!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)

Hi Twiggy! Its great to see you back, glad you enjoyed your holiday. I went AWOL for a little while too, I didnt really have anything to update so thought it was rather boring for me to post that things are just plodding along.
I'm sure your new debts can be dealt with, and at least the money was used on something in particular rather than it just being built up from ad hoc spends here and there with nothing to show for it, which is how my debts built up.

Ok so I don't want to get rid of the progress I had made so I'm posting my signature from before I went awol below - hope that will give me more motivation and then I'll give some thought as to how to set out my new signature as don't want to add the new debt to my old debt total as don't think that accurately reflects the picture!

Perhaps add another line in beneath your old debt and call it 2016 debt, with the total and th3n update what you have left of it once you've made payments to it. That would be the easiest way to track it i think.

Ok so new signature. Disappointed in myself for not just getting it all paid off and being debt free now. However, a positive is that I paid the holiday off in full and it was only through "treating" myself that I put stuff on my CC but my justification was that it was my 30th birthday! Now to get back on the straight and narrow!

Couple of good results on the money front this week. So we cancelled our sky and moved to Virgin back in June. However part of the kick to get back on here was a letter from sky saying our bill was overdue. So I had let the dd run for a month or so and then cancelled. Turns out when we cancelled it was actually a scam number and not sky so they had no record of our cancellation. Couple of calls later and they have agreed to cancel on the date we believed meaning they are not only wiping our account of the debt owed but also will be refunding us approx. £140! This was the only bill in OH's name previously so now everything is in my name so I feel more in control!

So in my optimism I checked my account yesterday to see if it had gone in (it hadn't) but we have been credited £191 by Wessex water! A while back our outside tap was left trickling and they put our dd up, presumably based on the usage going forward including the trickling tap, so we've been paying too much. This is my guess anyway as waiting for a letter to explain.

I also received £2.54 from TCB so that went off the cc.

Really enjoying feeling back in control!

Oh and I nearly forgot to mention that my bosses bought me a running gps watch for my birthday/thank you! I've been debating getting one so I'm extremely grateful but need to get out for a run! Will have to wait until tomorrow though as its circuits tonight.

Oh I can't remember if I mentioned on here but I had wanted to do 12 running events this year. Probably wont hit that target but I have done 8, so that's not bad going considering I didn't really start until May (with just a terrible one in January!)

    Relatively spend free weekend!

Checked my bank this morning - sky refund not received yet but did get a huge £2.43 from quidco so that's gone off the cc. Ok so my balance transfer is confirmed - however that's for most of my OH's debt on my CC. He has had a firm talking to that it needs to get cleared. Will leave a bit on the current cc but will get that paid off first plus £400 is my holiday spends so I aim to clear that asap. I then used what space was left on the balance transfer cc to transfer from my cc which was the original debt, however doesn't quite cover it all, so again this is going to go first. I know that probably doesn't make much sense to anyone else but (hopefully) it does to me! Must update my spreadsheets so that I'm clear what is my debt and what is OH's as combining on the new cc.

Right - yep, that's what I'm going to wonder off and do now!
