Currency Card (Asda)

In November 2012 I went to my local Asda and asked for £1000 in US Dollars.
The agent explained about the 'Currency Card' and its benefits?? I used it and it worked fine. I received a letter yesterday informing me that 'I will be charged an INACTIVITY FEE????'
After a phone call to establish what it was about. It appears that the $40+ I had on the card has been eaten up by charges???
Charges I hasten to add that were not explained to me when I went down the route of using the card!
I know (Now) it is in the small print, but when going on holiday the next day you take the advice of the agent (Or at least I did)
If I had known at the time I most certainly wouldn't have got one of these cards!!
Can I claim back what has been taken out, because there is only 65 cents left now?????
