Does anyone have any familiarity with the Glowworm SX18 boiler?

Mine seems to have developed yet another fault. This morning it refused to start up. Went into loft to see what was wrong and display on boiler was blank. Switched it off at the mains and back on and it started working. Half hour ago I noticed the house cooling down and the boiler has done the same thing again. No error codes, no fault showing, just blank.

Anyone have any ideas before I call out a plumber?

Hi, thanks for that. I have the manual and went into diagnostic mode earlier. No faults found. Turn my back and the damn things gone off again!

Have called the plumber and he gave the stock "probably the main pcb gone" answer that I was expecting.

Pressure drop? Leak or expansion vessel.

Zone valve not opening. Pump gives up due to over heating.

Nope, non of these. It's like the boiler loses power. Rest it and it will work (or stay on standby) for 10-15 minutes then goes off again.

In the diagnostics you can call up recent error messages and non are listed!

Well that lasted a long time!

New main PCB fitted Monday. Boiler worked straight away and stayed working, so confident that was the fault.

However, now, just 2 days later a new fault has appeared!

Boiler now stays powered up & pump runs, but error code is "Ignition failure". Tedious. Really flippin' tedious!

I hate gas boilers so very much!

My vote is, the engineer stuffed the high tension lead back wrong, so it's arcing.

They say if they don't put your intestines back the right way during an operation, you get kinks in the pipework, and the turd gets stuck. Very painful.
