O/S Daily Thread Thursday 16th October
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but damp underfoot as we had rain for a good while during the night.
DH up and gone to work early, but not stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was chicken in a white wine and cream sauce, and vegetable fried rice – I had 1 packet of frozen veg rice in the freezer, 1 packet of dried savoury vegetable rice and some pouches, so decided that I’d stir fry it all together with some additions from the bottom of the fridge that otherwise would have been thrown away and it was delicious. Tonight we’ll be having sausages, mash, veg and gravy.
On-line food order being delivered this afternoon.
Did a couple of admin type jobs on the pc yesterday. Have another job I want to get done today, so will crack on with that.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Dazi I need to make some poppies too, not sure when they're needed by though. There's usually an announcement on the museum's website but there's nothing on there yet this year.

Short day yesterday, thankfully. I was home by noon. I'm in a carpet shop but supposed to be doing admin. They knew I'd worked in other carpet shops but I made it clear that I'm NOT a salesperson, I'm not good at it and I've only done admin in the other places. They've decided otherwise
They are wrong

I use hydrocortisone cream for my eczema. It doesn't flare up too often, just with stress so not too bad. I can't walk into a Lush shop without getting an instant headache - all those scents mixed together
I know I could order online but the cream works well for me for now. Might give it a go when the cream runs out, thanks for the info.
I've been awake since 4am. I have a few things to do when I get home today but I'll see how tired I am. I might try to get some sleep instead. Crochet has gone out the window
I only have a few rows to do to finish my snake but I just can't seem to pick up the hook and finish it off. Poor thing only has two thirds of a head, lol.

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, I'm getting ready to head off to work. It will be my first full day this week, but I'm still keeping on top of the work.
Lots of people out sick at work, so we have a lot of supply staff in with the resultant confusion as they don't know where they should be when.
Time I set off.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Seems very cold in the house this morning but OH said its strangely warm outside ! weird !
Off to work today, and will do something and chips for dinner, we had curry last night which was very tasty.
Mr W delivering tonight and I must put a wash on and on the airer.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning chums ,although looking out of the widow its persisting down out there.Sky is a dark steely grey and very low cloud. No way can I see the River Medway at the moment from my window.(Normally if I can it means a reasonable day weatherwise)
Well, still stiff as a board, and getting a bit fed-up of the restrictions, but I keep repeating to myself 'its not forever, its not forever
:):)Just feels like it is at the moment:):)
I transferred some cash to DGS at Uni last night and got a lovely email back bless him.He has a pal driving up to see him at the weekend so I figured he needed a bit of 'happy cash' so they could at least buy a couple of beers. He is such a good lad and works so hard and never asks Mum and Dad for anything unless he's really desperate.
I have my niece visiting this afternoon and my sis-in-law so that will be nice and brighten up a grey autumn afternoon.
October is galloping on and the Christmas stuff is appearing in the shops already.I haven't even thought about it just yet,I'll probably get my eldest DD to put her thinking cap on for me as she is a great 'personal shopper' and finds all sorts of stuff in the shops for me.
Welltime I got into the shower and had some tea and breakfast I think.
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing, keep dry and warm if possible <<hugs to those feeling poorly>> and Happy Birthday to those celebrating.
Cheers chums

Good morning everyone

Thanks so much for good wishes for DH's interview today, he spent all last night preparing and feels quite relaxed today. It seems to be very difficult for teachers at his age to get an interview, let alone a job, as schools/colleges just don't want to pay the salary of an experienced teacher
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Dry and bright here this morning but apparently we will be getting a thunderstorm later. I really hope so, I love thunder and lightening. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are flitting around getting ready for school.
I managed to burn our tea last night, I got distracted and left it too long on high heat so we ended up with takeaway pizza, not very good for my diet though it was tasty. Tonight I will be making some kievs with a baked potato for me and chips for everyone else. I will hopefully manage to cook this without incident!
I am hoping for a quiet day today. I had a full night's sleep so feel more positive. Just got to finish off the washing pile and then I can carry on with my knitting. My eldest DD is coming for lunch, we were going to have leftovers from yesterdays tea but that has obviously gone down the pan so I will make some leek and potato soup instead.
That's all my news for today, hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever they are up too. Take care xx0 -

Morning everyone.
Am still under the duvet though it's close to getting up and out time. The sky is a mixture of baby blue with streaks of pale pink and the tide is in. Lovin' it.
When I looked out yesterday morning there was a dead deer lying in the field opposite! All I could see was the back end at first. Turns out a neighbour had hit it with his car late at night, killed it and brought it back. He later took off with it to dump it high in the woods for the scavengers to eat. Country life.
The other day I ordered an old-fashioned kitchen pulley for drying clothes. The utility room is usually heated as it's the coldest part of the house so it's ideal. It's on the way so I expect it today.
Found all the lovely chicks are pecking at my outside pansies and violas, caught the mother hen in one of the pots and the chicks just at the right height to reach in. Grrrrr.
Hope everyone has a Happy Thursday.0 -
Good Morning all
Welcome gb61,
Good Luck to Mr TTFTM.
Hello to all!
It is interesting reading about what people did for tea last night as I am looking for inspiration these days. Yesterday, I had a free packet of bacon (from a b1g1f) that I cooked up, then cut into pieces in a bottom of a pie tin, then covered with a tin of baked beans, half a tin of tinned tomatoes, a spoonful of splenda, then topped with two past their best potatoes mashed with laughing cow light cheese triangles as we are low on milk, then cooked in oven for half an hour. It was very tasty and warming for a wet day.
Tonight, I have no idea!
Need to post a card for my friend's birthday, then it will be a day of housework and packing up books.
Take care all.
