Storage Heaters- Quantum- Dimplex or Creda ?

Hi,
Looking for some advice on storage heaters...
I have spent hours trawling through the forums to see whether I should keep E7 tariff and get a new (to replace old) storage heater or just get a panel heater instead. After looking at what some of the experts on here say, I think I should keep my E7 box ( and have just got it connected to my hot water tank ) and get a new storage heater (old one is 20+ years old and very tired looking).
Would it be worth paying the extra ( double! ) and getting a new style heater like the quantum system? If so, dimplex or creda ?
Anyone had experience of either of these two heaters? Are they more controllable than the old ones? Cant seem to find much details online about them.
Also - as my hot water boiler is now connected to the night rate system will it keep heating for the full 7 hours or will it only heat to a certain temp and is that temp adjustable? At the moment my boiler looks like it hasnt got controls for this, but would it be possible to retrofit a control for the water temp?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Here is the operating manual: http://www.credaheating.co.uk/assets/kb/operating_instructions/0/CQH_Quantum_Operating_Instructions_Issue_3.pdfbrotherjackson wrote: »Also - as my hot water boiler is now connected to the night rate system will it keep heating for the full 7 hours or will it only heat to a certain temp and is that temp adjustable? Once it is up to temp, it will only take a little each night to keep it there, unless you run all the water out of it.0 -
Great info. Just what I was looking for.
I'll decide what heater to buy on aesthetic reasons then as they both the same (!?).
Water tank info great also.
Thanks!0 -

Make sure you get the right size for your room, you don't want to be running out of heat.0 -
Im getting the 125 as its a big room (open plan kitchen also), though could possibly get the 150 -any idea how would I find out what my old one was?
The creda and the dimplex both look different although they are supposedly the same inside. The dimplex is cheaper also, by about £100.
IMO I think the dimplex looks better anyway, so all good!0 -

I would get as much storage as possible for a big room.0 -
I havent opened it up to see how many bricks...
It is approx 1m long- beige,dimplex..0 -
1M sounds like a 2.55kW model. 3.4kW would be about 1/2 metre longer.
If you are getting Dimplex to install, they will determine the size you need. If you are worried about it being under specified, I'm sure they wont object to putting the next size up in.0 -
Whether Creda brand or Dimplex brand you need a fundamentally different starting point. Do you want full house [centrally controlled system] central heating ? or individual room central heating ?. Creda and Dimplex are much the same, but the two 16 bricker brands come with two differing storage capacities. Both the brands [QM150 & ER500] have a 13a 1300W radiant supplementary heater, but the Creda ER500 will hold a total of 18.2kWh whilst the QM150 will hold 23.1kWh, which is 4.9kWh more per night - every night. There is also a difference in insulation, the Dimplex uses the more expensive nano insulator URL="http://www.bagges.no/files/Termisk%20isolasjon%20-%20Tekniske%20datablader/DataSheet-QuiltedPanel_v2-1%20031209%20JJ.pdf"]Microtherm G blanket[/URL. HI,
Thanks for (more) great info!
It is a one bedroom flat, however the main room is about 30m2 and has an open plan kitchen also which has just been built (ie kitchen walls knocked down). Also has a large balcony with floor to ceiling windows and a door which have recently been replaced, this is about 3m of one wall. One more outside wall with one window (heater just left of window) and 2 windows in kitchen.
Im thinking of going for a panel heater in bedroom and maybe a freestanding fan heater for when it needs a boost.
This system has been unchanged for 22 years (no gas in property) and has been ok,not great but ok, so I thought I would keep the same but improve with a quantum heater instead.
I was going to go for the 125 (price is an issue also), but would you suggest the 150 ?
Cheers!0 -

I wouldnt get dimplex to install, I would just order online and get delivered and get a local spark to install as its going in exact same place as old one.0
