Jump 4 U contract, in light of Phones4U administration

Hi guys, I hope you can help me, there is very little information available online for JUMP customers.

Essentially, Jump is two separate contracts. One with Vodafone for my airtime. The other with Phones4U for the phone - which I can upgrade every 6 months if I so choose.

Obviously following the administration I am no longer receiving the service.

The terms and conditions state
"as part of the package you will be entitled to trade in the good for a different or newer model during the minimum period"

Thus, as I can no longer do this, they have breached the service?

Therefore, I have tried to apply my right, set out in the T&Cs
9.2 You may terminate the contract before the minimum period has expired providing at least one month's notice to us:

9.2.3 in accordance with condition 8.3 if an event beyond our reasonable control prevents us from delivering the service in accordance with the contract for a period of one month or more.

8.3: we will try to minimise any effects arising from such circumstances, but if we have not managed to resolve the situation within the next calendar month you or we may cancel the contract without charge and we will return any monies you have paid to us for services not provided.

I have just called JUMP as it is exactly one month to the day, and the manager I spoke to said that the administrators have instructed nothing can be done regarding this issue.

Do you guys have any advice on what to do now? This seems incorrect as surely I am not paying for a service I am not receiving, yet I cannot exercise my right set out under the T&C's?

Thank you!

Contract with Vodafone for airtime is still valid .
The second contract is the one that is not working as the company are in administration .
You should be very wary of breaking the airtime contract with the providers agreement .

They have not breached the service with you yet.

As soon as you're due for a handset upgrade via Jump and they cannot/will not provide one, then they will have breached the service and you will be able to cancel.
  • JJ Egan - I understand I will need to keep the contract with Vodafone, basically on a Sim only basis, as this is a separate contract and therefore still valid... however I would just like to get out of this ridiculous Jump contract!

How do I go about doing this as the manager was explicit that absolutely nothing could be done until further instruction from the Administrators, of which he cannot give me a time frame for!

Rusty! I am able to upgrade via now as the minimum upgrade period is only 6 months, hence I can 'jump' to a new phone after this time... I have had this contract with them from ~9 months now.
  • This is something I'd like to know as well!

I've had the jump contract now for over 2yrs (one with a Samsung Note 2 and just over a year with iPhone 5) and haven't 'jumped' since I had the iPhone in August 2013. I've already changed sim provider since the other one ended this August.

There seems to be hardly any information available online!
  • Have either of you had any progress with this? I am in the same boat and any help would be much appreciated!

The Jump website has now been updated

There will be no further service with Jump and no future payments are being collected.
