Confusion over flight delay calculator

Hi all,
I've been looking at the MSE table for calculating potential compensation entitlement (sorry, wouldn't let me post a link because I'm new). I'm a little confused.
I was flying Athens to Cairo (1120KM) on a flight that was delayed 9 hours.
Should I therefore be crosschecking the '3 hours+' cell with the 'All flights under 1,500km eg, London to Paris' cell, leading to €250?
Or should it be '4 hours+' and 'Flights between an EU and non-EU airport, 3,500km+ eg, London to New York', leading to €600?
Is the mention of an EU and non-EU airport a 'for instance' because these flights tend to be longer distances? Or is the EU/non-EU distinction a deciding factor, even if the distance itself was fairly small?
Any and all help much appreciated. Thanks.

Don't be confused. It means that if your flight was delayed for more than 3 hours and it is under 1500 KM then you entitle compensation of €250. And one more thing it must be airlines fault for the delays. so, your journey distance is 1120 km and it is delayed for 9 hours. so according to EU rules you entitle €250 as compensation. By the way, if you want to crosscheck your compensation amount you may check on tripmole.com and on flightstats.com as well.0
