Minor injury, what to do ?

Hi, just wanted to pick anyone's brains really. My Wife, myself and our 3 children stayed in the Legoland hotel last night prior to a day at Chessington today. At breakfast this morning my eldest Daughter got a nasty cut on her knee on a faulty chair in the restaurant (also cut a hole in her new jeans). The fault on the chair was noted and accepted by staff inc. the Supervisor and assistance was provided.
The hotel Manager asked us to wait and he would try to get my Daughter a new pair of jeans sent (no mention of the injury) I said we had at this point lost an hour of our time at Chessington (which we had already paid for inc. in the hotel stay) and that to lose another hour or two would be a big disappointment for our kids. He took my details and said Customer Services would call me ASAP. As yet they haven't. I don't really want to make a huge big deal out of it but I was annoyed that I felt as though I was being fobbed off, a Daughter in tears and two other children frustrated by an unforeseen complication. We got to Chessington in the end and had a great (if wet) day and although limping, my eldest Daughter enjoyed it
Any tips on how to take things forward would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
SF

Phone them and ask if they've sorted the replacement trousers out? And if they haven't just ask to be reimbursed the cost of them.
better still, write to them0 -
How big is the company?
As it's less than 24 hours maybe the information hasn't got to the customer services dept yet.
What is it you want? New Jess or compensation for the injury? Can't have been that bad if medication treatment wasn't required and she went to the park instead.
If you really didn't have time to get new jeans couldn't they have knocked the cost off the bill?0 -
If you want a refund on the jeans, write to the company requesting this (and state you were disappointed that they didn't contact you, as you had been led to expect they would).
If you want compensation for the injury, you'll need to contact a solicitor as soon as possible, to see if they will take the case and so they can arrange a medical report about the cut.0 -

It's been less than 24 hours, perhaps exercising a little patience is the way to go?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Time is of the essence when you take your kids out of school and return them damaged.0 -
I'm sure it will be sorted out0

I love the mentality these days in the order people do things.
Incident happens.
Carry on with plans for the day.
Post on the web about how to claim compensation.
Seek advice and realise medical advice is needed.
Seek medical advice for a claim.
Then protest how your child's health was your primary concern.
If the cut was that bad did it need treatment?
Might is scar?
Chances are it's just a minor cut and time to move on. Weren't like this in the 70s when you'd get a bollocking for ripping your new flares.0 -
LOL .....Thanks for the replies guys. There is no doubt that common sense will prevail eventually. It's amusing that despite the fact that I didn't once mention compensation and or making a claim there are those with such a mentality who create such a non existent bandwagon for others to jump on :-)
My primary concern was of course my Daughters health however I was (and am) concerned by the fact that a person running a large hotel was more concerned about replacing a pair of "flares" than he was about the health of my child. I'm also concerned that despite there being an injury customer services has as yet not contacted me. I have (as I've said) no intention of making a big deal out of it, hence the reason we eventually got on with our day. I detest the American compensation culture, that said I'm also not too keen on my children being injured. I'll not be making any claim apart from a like for like replacement of the jeans. I will also be writing to them with advice for the manager on dealing with bleeding customers.
PS, we are fortunate enough to be in a position to home educate our children so unless we fine ourselves I don't foresee any demands for fine payments on the doormat any time soon

You say yourself in your title that it was a minor injury, stick a plaster on it and get on with life.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
