Help! How do I get a skip removed and traced?

Help needed! Today I came home to find an empty skip dumped on my driveway. We didn't order it so they must have the wrong address. How do I trace the skip company as no paperwork or phone numbers anywhere, nothing. I've rang around 10 companies so far all of which say it's not theirs. If it's not claimed will any skip company take it for free? It's empty and clearly we won't fill it.

No I don't think so, don't know any friends that would find it funny. We're in quite a small village as well so have knocked a few doors. Can't believe no paperwork0

Can't you cut it up and put it in your wheely bin bit by bit?0

hi lee
long shot could I ask where your from as oh his a skip driver if your in the north east he could see if any of them have have left it0 -
I would check with your local council. Explain the position and they may help you with a list licensed of contractors who cover your area. Bit long winded but armed with a list you could phone around? Note size of skip and colour, given it is not marked (but see below).
As you thought likely that the skip has been delivered to the wrong address so phoning company x (who actually delivered the skip) will think the skip you have is at Mr Smith's address in the village (intended addressee) and say 'no, not our skip mate'. Of course, Mr Smith who ordered the skip will most likely have phoned/will phone saying 'where the heck is my skip?' Might get quickly sorted if you are lucky.
I am no expert but I thought all skips must be marked with its owners detail. That your one isn't is a bit of a worry. Again, the council may shed some light on the rules.
Good luck (must be a right pain).0 -
Make use of the free skip. The company who provided it will collect it after a week or before when the error is realised. Skip hire is not that cheap, so I doubt it will be there long. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

As you say it is a small area you live in, maybe ask around your neighbours to see if any of them were expecting a skip to be delivered, or knows of someone who might be waiting for the skip/ any one about to start building works of some sort.
Are you sure there are no name marks on it, all round my way have something like 'another skip hire name and a phone number on them' one companies' skips are also a very bright green type colour, so there is no mix up.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
